Logitech unveils $250 Guitar Hero controller

Logitech today announced a wireless guitar controller for the PlayStation 2 and 3, the first product in its planned line of peripherals for the Guitar Hero series. This high-end accessory won’t make you a better guitar player, but features a premium build including a genuine wood neck, rosewood fingerboard and metal frets along with metal tuning peg handles and overall awesome-looking design.

To minimize button noise, Logitech said the guitar uses rubber dome technology on the fret board controls, which is the same material used in its keyboards. It also sports the touch-sensitive neck slider that will support new functions in Guitar Hero IV. Sadly, for the average player, the $250 price tag is probably too high to even consider.

It does look nice, but for 250 dead presidents, I want more than wood. How about a nice pair of rechargeable batteries? Or - while I'm dreaming - how about a computer to help me time the strumming or maybe a robo-5th-finger for that fret button which I have such a hard time with?
