Weekend Open Forum: Do you use cloud storage? If so, for what?

   When you think about cloud storage all the photos that you put on Facebook are in the cloud as well. Also I use iCloud to backup my iOS contacts so if I lose my phone they are backed up to the cloud.

   What happens if you have a house fire and your computer and USB stick get burned up in the disaster? This is why I will always store my photos on the cloud. I don't have time to run to a bank to a safety deposit box all the time with a backup of my photos.

   We use Dropbox at work too, to keep a couple merchandise tracking files up to day between our 3 stores and to transfer files. We used to use FTP a lot but have found Dropbox is easier and more reliable.

   obviously I would use cloud storage for public files. I used skydrive to upload pictures of stuff that I sell online. or other (sometimes multiple) cloud storage for files that is attached to my article.

   another usage I would like to highlight is uploading of rare or modded drivers of my stuff to cloud. I have plenty of devices whose drivers are not easily available online. it'd be useful in case I need them anytime, anywhere.

   Skydrive fits my needs perfectly, especially the automatic synching between my desktop PC and my Skydrive account.

Therefore, I store all my data on good old fashioned hard storage on mobile devices/home PCs so I know I can access it without problems. I have only used the cloud VERY occasionally for the transfer of homework files.
