Using HandBrake we converted a 560MB mkv file to mp4 and measured the frame rate each processor achieved. The Phenom II X6 1090T does well in this test and the Asus Crosshair IV Extreme is able to take advantage of it, delivering a single frame more than the Formula version.
The x264 HD Benchmark 3.0 is used to measure the performance of a 2-pass 1280x720 encoding and results are displayed in frames per second. Here the Asus Crosshair IV Extreme matches the performance of the Formula board while putting on an impressive showing with the Phenom II X6 processor once again.
Using TMPGEnc, we converted a 715MB avi file to mpg and measured the time it took for each processor to complete this task. The Phenom II X6 1090T is less impressive when testing with TMPGEnc and the Asus Crosshair IV Extreme was just a fraction slower than the Formula.
