According to the 3Dmark 11 performance test, the GeForce GTX 590 is actually 10% slower than the Radeon HD 6990 which is surprising given that the GTX 580 is faster than the HD 6970. It seems that Nvidia sucked a lot of life out of the GF110 by reducing the fixed functions clock frequency 21% per GPU.
