Benchmarks: Far Cry 2, Aliens vs. Predator

To test Far Cry 2 we used the "Action Scene" from the custom benchmark tool. We feel this is an excellent representation of real gameplay performance. We ran this DirectX 10 title at maximum in-game visual settings with 8xAA.

While we found that Crossfire scales rather poorly in Far Cry 2, this is not the case with SLI. Here the GTX 590 was 53% faster than the GTX 580 and a whopping 46% faster than the HD 6990. With an average of 101fps at 2560x1600, the GeForce GTX 590 also outpaced the HD 6970 and HD 5970 by 87% and 58%.

Aliens vs. Predator
We used the highly demanding DX11 benchmark from Aliens vs. Predator playing through a test scene in the same sequence every time for accurate results. The maximum possible visuals were enabled along with 4xAA/16xAF.

Although the GTX 590 blitzed Far Cry 2, it struggled in Aliens vs. Predator. At 2560x1600 it averaged just 45fps making it 10% slower than the HD 6990. Despite this, it was 50% faster than the HD 6970, 41% faster than the GTX 580 and 32% faster than the HD 5970.
