PC makers to install Windows XP after June deadline

PC makers to install Windows XP after June deadline Despite Microsoft placing a June 30 deadline on Windows XP, with all sales of the OS being cut off following that date, three of the world’s largest PC manufacturers are exploiting loopholes in Microsoft licensing terms as a means of supplying XP beyond its official kill date.

Specifically, Dell and HP are exploiting a clause in the downgrade rights that come with Vista Ultimate and Business that enables those buying these versions of Vista to have the option of downgrading to the older version of the operating system and keep it under the same Vista license. Lenovo, for its part, is including an XP recovery disk on some Vista-based systems, allowing owners to revert to the older OS if they choose to. Microsoft certainly isn’t going to be too happy about this, especially now that Vista Service Pack 1 is out.

Screw Vista. They seriously get mad when they know that vista is still a hardware nightmare for most people! My friend bought himself a laptop w/ vista and 1gb of ram and vista takes up about 700 mb right off the bat! w/ on board video that really sucks and so now he's gonna have to buy another stick. I didn't even find it worth it to shit talk him for getting the PC w/ vista and that sort of hardware lol he knows.

Whats the big deal. They should sell both. I mean why should they manarm you into getting something you don't want. I and many others will only by a pc with XP so why risk losing sales just because you think people should be on your new software. Vista isn't ready for primetime and may never be so they better think or risk losing alot of money. Seriously our company will not buy a PC with Vista and if we can't buy it from you we will go elsewhere. Luckily dell, our favorite, still sells with XP.

XP blows chunks, get with the program or left to be eaten by evil monkeys. XP is old school plain and simple. So save up your pennies and buy some 2008 hardware why don't ya!
