Bsod 0x0c4

Hi

My PC Specs.
Asus M2n-E SLI motherboard
AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 6000+ 3.01 GHz,
3.25 gb of ram
Foxconn Geforce 8800 GTS 320mb

I have been having some trouble with some BSOD. At first I had a BSOD stop error 0x000000B8 (0x00000000, 0x00000000, 0x00000000, 0x00000000) when rendering long amounts video ( anything over twenty mins.)

But then I read another tech blog on BSOD 0x0B and found out about the Driver verifier

After turning on the verifier I opened sony vegas and got this blue screen:

Stop: 0x000000C4 (0x00000035, 0x00000000, 0x8fa22e94, 0x00000002)

Upon reboot of this screen i got this BSOD error:

Stop: 0x000000C4 (0x00000035, 0x00000000, 0xBA796DD8, 0x00000001)

ACPI. sys Address BA796DD8 base at BA77900, Datestamp 41107d27

Thanks,

E

If Deadlock Detection in Driver Verifier Is Turned on and Norton Antivirus Is Installed.

acpi.sys: Advanced Configuration and Power Interface

Can be software/Hardware/Bios/Suspend issues

In c:\windows\Minidumps are there any further Minidumps, or is this it?

USBPORT.SYS seems to be the most dominant
I would first recommend that you udate all USB devices attached to your computer.
There may also be a system BIOS update. Please confirm your BIOS is up to date.
That Antivirus you mentioned: sometimes it can be a conflicting program (as Antivirus and firewall are always running), you may want to try un-install, then re-install.
MS have a security update here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/925528 if you are using nVidia card. If so please also do the security update.

Ok I search around and found a new bios update. I am going to do that. But for the hotfix I am running Windows XP not Vista, so what should I do about that?
Thanks,
E

In that MS link was an online request link for Xp
Here's that link again

You may need to go back to the first link (as this one is too long for the board

Ok, I am just waiting for a request from microsoft to come back now.
I think I figured out why I was getting some of these blue screens. The first couple blue screens (100000D1) were from a Razer Lachesis gaming mouse when i tried to play Crysis. When I got the blue 0x0B8 is when i was rendering with Sony Vegas from and external usb hard drive back on the usb drive. So I tried it from my c drive to my c drive and it did it fine. So it must be and usb problem, well I hope that helped.
Thanks,
E

Thanks for the update.
It'll be interesting to hear what MS recommends too.
There may be some Security Update or something.

Ok I got the Hotfix from microsoft. In it states that it is not in the microsoft website. The KB Article Number is 925528. Microsoft says it has a password and that changes even 7 days. They also say it has not been fully tested. here is the link
http://hotfixv4.microsoft.com/Window...U_i386_zip.exe

An Xp SP3 individual security update. That's good.

Xp SP3 in total, is still under Release Candidate 2 (RC2)
But sould be released soon as a full update, obviously MS do not mind sending out individual updates (only available to Vista at the moment)

The USB fault, either:
uses 2 gigabytes (GB) or more of RAM and an nVidia nForce EHCI controller
or
STOP 0x1000007E usbhub.sys

Xp uses can download: http://hotfixv4.microsoft.com/Window...U_i386_zip.exe to see if this helps fix the fault.

By the way, did it fix your issue?

Thanks I was a little concerned that 7 days might pass !
WindowsXP-KB925528-x86-ENU.exe was extracted
Note this file cannot be redistributed without MS consent
But the link to MS can be. So thank-you

Hear back from you, for the conclusion. Did it work?

Here is the Vista link for that update (for anyone on Vista)

Well i have been rendering from only on my c drive not to and from a usb hard drive. So i have not really have not used the fix. Well rendering on the c drive now is messed up. It renders fine but every once in awhile i get the BSOD stop error 0x000000b8. So to answer your question I don't really know if it fix the problem.

Well I have still be having the BSODs and they keep on getting worse. I have now updated to service pack 3. I can post up all the new BSODs and all that seems to be different is that I have a NZXT Apollo Case that has 4 usb ports in the back and 2 in the front. The ones in the front are a lot slower so maybe that could help.

thanks,

E
