Almost 50 percent of all PCs are now running Windows 10, research claims

So it has taken a little over four years for Windows 10 to almost reach 50%, and they were even giving it away for free. This really doesn't seem like something to brag about.
If you use the following website:

http://gs.statcounter.com/windows-version-market-share/desktop/worldwide/#monthly-200901-201206

You can see that Windows 7 took a little under 3 years to reach 50% market share, and over the same period of time, WinXP's share went from 75% to 38%. I would bet that this was in no small part due to awfulness that was Vista. Now look at the same for Windows 8.1 and compare it to the launch of Win10:

http://gs.statcounter.com/windows-version-market-share/desktop/worldwide/#monthly-201310-201710

Win10 went from nothing to 42% in two years, and that's competing against WinXP, Win7, Win8.1. Yes, it took another two years to reach 50% but the initial share grab was significant.

Food for thought, Windows 10 took 5 years(counting beta) to do what Windows 7 did in 18 months(also counting beta). Good job Microsoft! Anyone still think Windows 10 is a success?

Will a restless Techy out there write a little 'f***offWindows' app to shut down all the Win10 'experience' spyware? Please!!!

It won't work!

Microsoft has embedded the backdoors and spyware so deeply in its closed source operating system that end users can no longer fix or control their own computers

Only Microsoft can remove the spyware, but why would they?

Microsoft's "Customers" are the Companies and Gov't Agencies willing to pay them for "Your Data"

"You" are the product!

I totally agree, I had a lot of my friends all call me on microsofts last update screwing up their wifi auto logins. What a nightmare that was. Some days I would love Thor's hammer on Microsoft!!!!

I find it way more impressive that W7 is still over 30% after all the free W10 upgrades and MS not supporting newer cpu platforms on 7.

I like win7 hated win8 and wont get win10. WHY? win 8 and 10 will not run my old purchased programs.

Yes, the hazards of upgrading OS's. Been there done that! I just don't like win10 forcing their updates on me and my friends. Many times the update does things to your computer that Microsoft shouldn't mess with.
