Well, the idea is to test only the CPU. Even a weak GPU can handle 1080p, not so at 4k or even 1440p.These benchmarks are a joke as they are tested in 1080p, I don’t even know anyone who plays 1080 P anymore. How about some benchmarks in 1440 all the ones I seen Intel leads.
The idea is to leave the GPU out of it as much as possible, the higher the res, the higher the workload on the GPU which leaves the results meaningless. The CPU help greatly with high FPS, but does nothing for beautiful texture streaming at high resolution.
There is a whole and detailed article about this on this site. A lot of people think the same as you, and it's not surprising because a few facts about workload balance between CPU and GPU isn't intuitive until a person really understands the different jobs these two vital components do.
I don't have a link to that article, but after reading it, or googling "Why are CPUs always tested at low resolution like 1080p?) It will quickly become apparant to you
