Apple denies its acknowledgement that iPad Pros are prone to bending, says they're perfect

@wiyosaya. That's pretty much what I thought it was. Although, I am a bit surprised by the source.

It pretty much describes my next door neighbor to a T. Trouble is, he's dirt poor, and couldn't pass a 5th grade reading exam. On of these days I should make myself a doormat out of eggshells.
@captaincranky So on those days, you are one of those facts that needs altering. :scream: I feel for you! ;)

The Doctor sometimes comes up with some good ones - IMO, there have been quite a few that have appeared in the recent seasons Peter Capaldi. I adopted the quote after "alternative facts" became headlines - seemed, to me anyway, to fit well.

I watched from the 9th to the 13th (Capaldi) doctor I plan on seeing the new doctor. I would watch the old doctors but the quality is pretty poor to be a bit blunt.
Early Brit sci-fi was, (and likely still is), low budget. It all had a high school stage play feel to it. So, dust off your imagination, before you attempt to deal with it.

"Blakes 7" was another fairly long running series which PBS used to run. But again, not terribly elaborate SFX.

Although, when you came right down to it, the Star Trek original series sets were fairly hokey once they ventured off the deck of the Enterprise.

EDIT: All this talk of "Doctor Who" reminded me of this "Edenbridge" video. They're a female fronted "symphonic metal" act. I got a kick out of one of the comments. Sic, "they have her dressed up like a 1980's time lord". Try and tough it out until she starts singing. In that get up, she could pass for Tom Baker's sister...

Doesn’t put me off. All tablets bend and Apples products are designed with far more accuracy and quality than any other manufafturer. What does put me off on this device is iOS. The iPad pro is easily the best tablet ever made in terms of design, quality and performance. And whilst iOS is clearly superior to Android it’s not welcome here. There isn’t really a decent alternative however, Chrome Os is more capable but way less usable, the same with Windows. Apple needs to step iOS up to the plate because currently not being able manually import files to a $1000 tablet isn’t going to cut it. iOS has the user interface down but it lacks the functionality you’d need or expect from a tablet priced as a laptop.

BritBox supposedly has all the classic Dr. Who in existence and claims to be adding more and more. Hulu had a better collection of classic Dr. Who than Netflix; I was watching it there and collecting as many of the missing pieces as I could - until the BBC decided to pull it. While I think it would be interesting to see, I simply do not have the time nor the will to subscribe to yet another exclusive streaming service to watch that material. At one point, I was able to claim to have seen virtually all of the classic Dr. Who that anyone could have. Not so much now, though since more missing episodes keep showing up.

Personally, it is the storytelling that I enjoy. To me, SFX are an enhancement of that at the most. And on that note, I plan on watching Jodi Whittaker, too, when it is released on disc - my local library will almost certainly get it.

Dr. Who had some historical stories that they have taken some liberties with and they also tend to align with current theories of astronomy - including the whole thing about the TARDIS being multidimensional. I am not sure whether that theory hit astrophysics before or after the TARDIS, though.

Ah yes. The Trial of a Time Lord. ;)

I have never seen Blakes, but I hear it was well-regarded by SciFi fans. One of these days.

Back on topic - I have a first gen iPad Mini that has easily survived daily backpack insertions/removals. IMO, it would take a deliberate and forceful act to bend it. It would not surprise me in the least if crApple is trying to cut costs and the current bending fiasco is a result of that. After all, doesn't crApple need even more money in the bank? ;)

I still think it's, on large part, the customer's fault. Apple is giving the public what it wants, but on their terms The ads should read, "iPad Pro now available as a suppository".

I also still hold that the practical limits of material science have been reached regarding resistance to bending in a package that thin.

With that said, if the iSheep are stupid, gullible, and needy enough to demand it, then Apple is greedy, ruthless, and ignorant enough to give it to them.

Agreed! If the consumer buys crap, there will be more producers willing to sell crap to the consumer.
