Forget Halloween, seeing the ignorance and nonsense posted here is far scarier...

Noticed a bunch of misinformation... let's try and clear something up.

That is a VERY misleading statement! While technically true - you can still spread the virus if vaccinated - if you have taken the vaccine, you are far less susceptible to suffering any of the ill effects of Covid. The most common way Covid spreads is airborne, via droplets... aka coughing... Well, if you are vaccinated, you are less likely to be coughing...

Again, true... but... misleading... No vaccine (or any medical treatment) is 100% effective. But you are far less likely to get Covid if you are vaccinated - and even if you get it, you are far less likely to require hospitalization (or die) if you are vaccinated.

While more people might get TB - WE HAVE A CURE FOR IT!!! There is no cure for Covid, however, so I'd rather get TB... don't get me wrong, TB sucks - but it can be treated and cured by virtually any competent doctor in a modern hospital.

--> Since you can get/spread Covid even if vaccinated, why aren't they testing vaccinated people for Covid as well?

Apparently you didn't read the article!! They ARE testing vaccinated people - just less often! Since they are still far less likely to get/spread the virus, this makes sense...

I’m guessing this was aimed at me pointing out the fact that TB kills more people globally than Covid. I didn’t say it was “more serious”. Although I did live in Bangkok when they had an epidemic of TB out there and it was far more severe on the hospitals than covid has been. Just out of curiosity, if you think TB is “less serious” than Covid can you explain why?

You claim there is a cure for TB and with the right antibiotics you will recover but despite this, the mortality rate of TB is much higher than Covid. I personally would take covid over TB. My chances of death would be lower and it would be over much sooner and the chance of long term disease is much smaller.

I was using TB as an example of a higher cause of death to make a point to someone who falsely believed that Covid was the single biggest threat to public health when it isn’t.

I take it you didn't actually read the article... in the US (and Canada, Europe, Australia, etc) TB is NOT as dangerous as Covid.

The high mortality rate of TB in developed countries is higher than Covid...

Covid makes everything worse though - if your immune system is compromised (by HIV, Covid, etc) TB will be that much more dangerous.

Again, there are treatments and cures for TB!! TB is not a virus - it is bacterial!

...and if you are symptomatic, you are far less likely to be out in public. I had Covid a couple of months ago, and the moment I had the slightest symptom, I got tested and isolated myself. It is more than likely that the majority of spread happens with people who don't have any reason to believe they are sick: as in, those who are pre-symptomatic or asymptomatic.

But they may very well be just as likely to spread the virus. Either way... if the point is to reduce the spread, you should be testing everyone (regardless of vaccination status) as often as possible. If you only test vaccinated poeple once per week, you are almost assured to end up with any spread coming from a vaccinated person who is contagious during the window when they aren't being tested.

Who said TB was a virus? I didn’t. I know quite a bit about TB as have lived in Bangkok where they have a real problem with it. It isn’t a virus it’s a bacteria that spreads through the respiratory system via droplets (sound familiar).

I didn’t read the article but I am already aware that in the west TB is not as lethal as covid. However I stated that globally TB is more lethal than covid and it is.

TB has been raging through the undeveloped world for centuries and nothing gets done, there are no lockdowns, restrictions, vaccine mandates etc. As soon however as a less lethal virus starts killing off old white men the entire planet shuts down and our leaders start enforcing rather disgusting policies and destroying peoples lives.

Ironically amongst the biggest to suffer from the restrictions are people who work in tourism in these third world countries. You ought to see the YouTube videos of the food lines in the tourist hotspots in Thailand. They go for literally miles.

Take the flu as a great example. I haven't become sick from the flu for decades, yet my wife seems to get sick from a string of it almost every year. Yes Delta can still be spread by the vaccinated - But. But, at a lower rate .

So repeat after me - the Vaccinations won't stop Covid 19.

If will reduce the R value.
If will reduce hospitalisations .
It will reduce death.
If will reduce long covid - covid lungs ( look worse than smokers lungs ) etc
If will save your bank balance in the USA
If when stop your child from feeling guilty they killed their Ma or Pa , Grandpa or Grandma from bringing covid home from school. Not being able to visit them to show them your absolute fear on your young face .Knowing their love ones will endure dying alone in pain in ICUs - with bed sores - intubated ( a tube Rammed with great force into them- kind of like wearing a mask - but worse )

I haven’t actually seen anyone here saying they won’t have the vaccine or people shouldn’t have it. But that hasn’t stopped people ranting against anti vaccers. Who is your comment aimed at?

People clearly don’t like vaccine mandates or testing only for the unvaccinated. It’s almost as if some people respect other peoples privacy and others don’t.

I have a friend, a fitness instructor who had an allergic reaction to her first shot of Pfizer, she was hospitalised but now she is fine. Only problem is she now isn’t vaccinated. She wants to be but obviously no doctor can recommend she has it. The gym she works in freelance has barred her because she’s not vaccinated so she has now lost her income

Vaccine mandates are disgusting and discriminatory. And also a little racist. I mean one of the biggest unvaccinated communities in America is young black people. Are we really going stigmatise and condemn millions of people just because they won’t take the jab? How is that in any way decent or humane?

Points taken- it was not aimed at you - the thread had some BS in it . Shame for your friend - much more people have reactions to egg, peanuts, fish etc.
Maybe she look at other companies vaxes - hopefully no allergy one will be made- all these companies are working on new stuff

The drummer for Offspring was kicked from the band because he hasn't been vaccinated. His doctor advised against it due to him having Guillain-Barré Syndrome. The other members of the band are so ignorant due to misinformation about unvaccinated people being dangerous that they kicked him from the group.

But not at the same rates... so maybe do some research... the ignorant one here is you.

The % of the population who have LEGITIMATE reasons not to vaccinate are less than .1%... anyone else either has faulty information or simply wants an excuse not to get vaccinated.

The sooner everyone is vaccinated, the better for everyone.

I wish I got my TB vaccination - missed it but a couple of years - it's the one that leaves a circle scar on your arm.
As I've stated before I've done huge amount of travelling.
Picked it up in China in the 90s - not hard in winter on closed up buses - lots of coughing and hacking , folks spitting phlegm all over the floor .
Anyway spent a day in a chinese hospital massive chest pain , drip etc - think I paid US$5 fee for hospital - a little short of breath - didn't stop me hiking the Tiger Leaping Gorge a few days later - a bit slower than like I - same as if I was at 5000m plus altitude.
Took no treatment as didn't know what affected me .

Roll ahead 3 or 4 years in London - go to gym - do a huge work out - including a fast 3 mile run at 15% incline . That night go to work event - some tosser forcing drinks - so I said I'll have another one & another one - to stop pressure on others .
Come out 3am - in bitter cold rain & wind - a day or 2 later started coming back.
Blackouts, collapsed lung from lots fluid , fast erratic heartbeat. low oxygen , super high temp , 2 months in hospital - tested me for 1000 things - TB test takes awhile- was neither negative or positive - anyway one the Consultants figured TB still the most likely 9 months of medicine - no side effects ( can damage eyesight, liver, kidneys etc ).

Has not come back - but ended up with a pericardial constriction on the heart - nothing too bad - still went off travelling ( though 3 months post recuperation first ( short term memory wonky etc )), hiking in mountains doing stuff - at worse leads to congestive heart failure - but that gives you plenty of notice ( shortness of breath, swelling in legs ) - can have pericardium ( skin around heart ) removed ( risky operation - as full open surgery )
Real shame as ultra scan technician said without the constriction I had a perfect heart

That's my little story.

So people going to the countryside , or south pacific islands in the past for TB ( consumption ) makes sense. ie lead a healthy life supporting immune system .
Still makes sense - Support your immune system in old age - so less chance of dying from say pneumonia- that's what gets a lot old people , or those of yesteryear with HIV.
Now my test for low immunity is a simple cold sore
