At curiosity where are you purchasing this computer and what brand is it. I mean is your parents giving you a money limit on the computer your buying. Any processor after 2.6 GHz I can't really tell much of a difference. An Intel based processor will do you alot better as their dual cores push alot better then the AMD and if you really want better then 2.6 GHz, that processor I think overclocks to 3.2 GHz.

hehe yea i think its just that ive always had successful AMD rigs and always will
im prolly gonna phenom (or what ever) for my next rig for CAD etc .. but i will have to check bmarks etc
i think i prolly get put off by intel because of their marketing "wow look at our new quad core!!" "its great buy it now" then everyone boasts about "yea i gotta quad" but then you find that its a dual core split ... now in my mind thats not a quad lol

i guess AMD tell it like it is if they're gonna make a Quad they make it a real quad lol

never mind .. i know im an AMD fanboy at heart but at the end of the day i dnt really care lol

its all about the character of the CPU maaaaaaaaaaaaan lmao

Yeah, true, AMD tend to be fairly good at that kinda work. I am building a workstation for my mate soon, I'm tossing up between a Intel Xeon and a AMD Phenom for CAD/Image Rendering/etc, Probably go with Phenom, but yeah, I'll check benchmarks and how much he has to spend. =]

I'm behind Intel as of late cause I'm a gamer and Core 2 is just amazing. It's true AMD Phenom are 'true' quadcore's, but that doesn't matter cause the Intel 'Quad' is still faster. =P

GBear: i get that when someone else pays for it you don't get much in the way of a say as to what your get, but i'm just still curious as to WHY they don't want you to build your own, since you could probably save them some money or get a better system for the same.

run into programs? i don't even know what that means... btw i'm seriously just curious as to their reasoning. i realize that theres probably no way they'll change their minds...
