Baldur's Gate 3 publisher warns of industry "division" as Naughty Dog's new game trailer faces backlash

Well if that is a problem for you you can start with getting rid of all the mirrors in your house.
Well, they all cracked anyways, so I tossed them out a while ago. More seriously though, if a game has an ugly main character that almost always means awful writing and boring gameplay. The correlation is nearly 1:1. So no point in even considering buying a game with an ugly main character if the devs fail that basic test, there are just so many other games & entertainment options out there.

What is "pushing sexuality" there? I just see character that is not heterosexual.
So "pushing sexulity" is having other sexuality beside heterosexual in games? Wtf
Pushing sexuality is making sexuality a focal point in a game. Having someone who isn't hedrosexual is fine, obviously. But making it a huge cringe deal like you see in this video isn't what most people want. Again if you don't see the problem here then you are the problem. That video is absolutely comical and ridiculous. And their sales took a hit because of it which I very much enjoy. You have no business calling anyone here a whacko.

Let's be outraged that it's PS5 exclusive.
I didn't even realize it was...though I do have a PS5.

Personally I thought it looked pretty cool. Loved the 80s scifi theme and whatnot. Yeah it looked like it may be typical girl boss stuff we see in everything now but still looked interesting.

That said I would not buy it until I hear how much they push "the message". I don't care about their message, I just want a good game.

How was that a focal point in a game? It was just one part of the game. Focal point was main story which has nothing to do with this characters sexuality. That is just you being transphobic (probably also homophobic).
And its a "cringe" deal because of trans people going through in their life (something you would not know being heterosexual and not having to deal with other people sexuality phobic **** almost every day)

I ve been seeing my whole life heterosexual sex/love/story scenes in games and I am not downoting every video on Internet jsut because they are pushing "heterosexual agenda" my whole life on me....

Just admit it you are transphobic (probably also homophobic) :)

That was just one part of the game but there are a lot more. And that character's whole being is about how nonbinary she is. How the hell can you watch that and say it wasn't a focal point lol.
I'm not any kind of phobic. Everyone is on an equal playing field in my views. I just don't think that this belongs in videogames. Especially the way the *****s at Bioware did it.

Does not belong at all or it is not made good :)
Pick one :)

The problem they are having is that people have started to notice and cannot ignore the fact that so much entertainment is focused on the same ideological bend. A lot of this has to do with investment firms demanding that studios hire for diversity rather than merit. An illegal practice, but one that you see in nearly every Hollywood studio and tech firm. Suddenly, the social media face of all these companies are far-far-left individuals with pronouns in their bios and some identity on the LGBTQ spectrum. Game studios that typically made gritty games meant for a male dominated audience are filled to the brim with female narrative writers and so-called developers. Suddenly, most games now feature a female "Mary-Sue" protagonist that grates male sensibilities as a woman they would rather avoid. Suddenly, game studios are calling you a racist bigot if you choose not to buy their games or point out the obvious. Why didn't Star Wars Outlaws feature Han Solo? Indiana Jones is doing really well because it featured Indy, if SW Outlaws would have features Han in a timeline that fit his pre-Trilogy escapades, it would have easily sold 7-8M copies even with the performance issues that it had, maybe even more. People are tired of the message, they want good entertainment featuring characters they either love already or are at least likeable. They don't want LGBTQ issues shoved in their faces, they want games that feel authentic and good stories that make sense in the world in which they take place.

"They don't want LGBTQ issues shoved in their faces"

Well I want to.
I have been shoved with heterosexual issues my whole life in every game and every movie, music video etc. And thats fine :) . Now I finally want to see some real life LGBTQ issues :) . Of course it would be great if it is made good :) Just like with heterosexual stuff in games :)You homophobes will twist every word and sentence just for not being called phobic lol

Here's a brilliant idea: stop shoving politics, girlbosses, and unlikeable ugly arsehats into games! Wow, what a concept!

Try writing an actual CHARACTER, with actual traits...

Yeah, guys. Come on. Try writing a CHARACTER with TRAITS as long as those absolutely do NOT include the espousal of political or social values that I disagree with, being a woman while displaying attitudes or behaviors that I personally deem to be "boss like," or having physical characteristics that deviate in the least from the ones that I personally find attractive. It's so simple!

This whole story arc of "I'm nonbinary...look at me!" doesn't belong at all.
If they are going to have a gay or non binary person at least don't make it so damn cringe. Treat it like everyone else in said story and don't make a huge deal about it.

Make up your mind :)
Completely remove or make it better :)So you are ok with having trans/gay/non binary characters but you want them being made better? :)

The reason games are made from the "woke" (I have to use quotes because using woke in the pejorative is abhorrent) perspective lately is that it sells more. Gamers aren't just young boys/teens anymore. That's where the world is at. Those of us who are aware of social injustice are moving forward, evolving. Then there's you others who just can't let the hate and jealousy go. I welcome the diversity. I welcome the equity. I welcome the inclusion. I would welcome anti-woke if they would accept it.

Why can’t we just let them make their art and not buy it if it doesn’t appeal to us? Why does it need to resort to vitriol? Like what you like and let others like what they like. It isn’t hurting you that this exists.
So this is something I've been thinking about, because you're right, if people don't like it, they don't buy it, Dragon Age hasn't done well, Star Wars has done very badly, Concord was literally shutdown, Awakening barely anybody has heard of, So I think that already happens, games don't sell so well when people don't like it.

However, I think you'll find more rage when it comes to developers like Naughty Dog or Bioware, because they used to make good games, they didn't force stuff into their games because of any real world politics. So for some, it's painful, or insulting how a once great studio, now struggles to keep the real world politics out of their own medium.

My personal opinion on the whole thing is, I play games to get away from real life, it sucks in the UK right now, I don't want to be reminded of the political agenda of the game devs when I'm trying to get away from that.

There's also a pattern, if the game is very in-your-face about certain ethnic groups or really needs to highlight LGBTQ+ as a selling point, The games writing and story telling really suffers. It normalises everything so the outcome is always the same, the strong female charater won, the bad guy lost, nobody was hurt, and if they were, we have no idea because character development practically didn't happen.

I think a more accurate way to describe what is happening is that we can't NOT participate in it. They make these games that end up filling the news and even if we never heard of the game we are certainly going to hear about all of the politics around it. It pops up on our favorite news sites, it finds it's way into social media. I have never heard of this game before and now I'm forced to hear about OTHER people's politics.

The problem is that these games stir the s%^t up and then everyone has to smell it. I don't care about identity politics, I barely play games anymore. I spend most of my time in front of a computer either breaking linux or trying to teach myself C++.

This stuff is so in our face it isn't as simple as not buying it. Then we get called bigots when we don't want to hear about it

Used to? hahahahaah Yeah Baldurs Gate 3 is so bad hahaha ... The last of Us is a horrible game hahaha...You homophobe people are delulu lol

Aww poor you. You see from time to time gay characters in video games.... I have been playing heterosexual "political agendas" in my games my whole life ...shocking....

And this happens only because there is LGBTQ stuff in games? hahahaha

I already answered this. Don't make sexuality a huge deal. Don't focus on it. Make the characters more natural and stop trying to virtue signal. Stop pushing to make some kind of stand in a product that people buy to get away.

Another example would be the new assassins creed. I would have been ok with it then it came out that both playable protagonist were LGBT. Right then and there I was out. Since that came out they pushed the game back to make revisions due to drama in multiple areas of the game. So we will see how it ends up. But I'm at a place where I don't care about missing out anymore. If the devs get stupid and make cringe games I'm not buying. Dragon Age was the last buy for me.

Hate to break it to you but woke content is struggling atm. It's not selling more.
You think you're evolving because you obsess with injustice? I guess if you consider being offended at everything possible and accusing everyone of being bigots at every opportunity is evolving then ok...if you say so. Whatever makes you feel superior to the rest of humanity.

Exactly that, nobody cared for Concord, it's a game that was closed down after 2 weeks, yet we are STILL having to hear about it because it's considered politically correct to do so.
Even worse, I bet there's people here who'll tell me why I still need to hear about it...

I do still think sales are massively down though, So as long as sales stay low to non-existent for the sludge these companies produce, it will change over time, it took 10 years for it to get this bad and sales to start dropping off, it'll take another 10 years to get back to good games being the normal, not the exception.

No one cries more than the anti-woke mob incel brats that literally shed tears and throw temper tantrums because you can choose a characters gender.
Except the people who call everyone and everything racist or some kind of phobia. I mean let's remember that it's the left that says "words are violence".
And do you mean male and female or are we talking ze / zem and other recently made up genders?

Talking mostly about the starfield nonsense with people making youtube videos of themselves crying and screaming about the woke pushing their content simply because you can choose your characters gender. Despite all of that I think that game made about $657 million in sales. The online left is just as bad for sure crying over nonsense. Honestly who cares what gender anyone wants to call themselves? no one cares really. No one in real life that is. Every has real problems to deal with. You can call yourself dipperdoppper or glitterhop for all anyone cares.

Too many employees at game studios are social activists intent on pushing their narratives down everyone's throats.
Give me a break. When people create books, music and even games they are going to have their own narrative, right? Since no one is forcing you to read, listen or play their content, no one is forcing anything down anyone's throat. Don't like the game, don't play it. No one owes you anything.

The nostalgia of old studios sure is powerful. It’s just a shame that essentially every studio sh!ts the bed and fuċks it up or gets bought before that happens and gets fuċked up.

It sucks everywhere and I hope you can find a game to enjoy.

Since this is a pattern, doesn’t that point to the fact that the people making these games, who are generally younger, because who else is willing to spend 60-100 hours crunching, wants this content? I mean eventually content gets targeted at the younger people and we all move into the “back in my day” crowd.
