big problem

whenever i startup my dell with win 2k it gives me a blue error screen and wont let me log in... does any one have any ideas to what it could be?

its a dell ,no ,just kidding
on boot try tapping on the F8 key and do last known good condition if that doesn't work do again go to safe mode
I would hope it to be a bug ,but could be hardware failure.
