Big Tech doubles down on AI, $200 billion gamble raises concerns on Wall Street

Don't we need a lot more electricity capacity to do AI properly? Or is that a false conservative rumor? I'm serious in wanting some input
The big tech companies are actually buying nuclear power plants to serve their data centres. Google, MS, and Amazon have all invested in building or rebuilding nuclear power plants.

There's a comforting thought, AI controlling nuclear power plants. It's all in the buildup to Skynet ofcourse.

Nuclear has made advances. As long as the hires are not DEI we will be OK with it. I was surprised to learn there is no recycling those God awful windmills. They have to go in landfills

Kinda funny to hear any concerns from the place where all bubbles started in the past...they almost broke the planet last few times before ,mind you 😀

Yeah, except they're not spending $250 million. They're spending billions on AI and some of them are spending tens of billions. So far no one is actually making a profit or getting any kind of return on their investment. It's easy to predict that such and such will happen, but no matter how big a player you are you can only spend so much with nothing to show for it until trouble starts brewing. Let's not forget that these are all publicly traded companies and eventually investors are going to say "this is a waste of money, time to get out". Then the bubble will burst. You just wait and see.
Google has announced that AI is doing 25% of the coding now. PLTR is making big money on their AI software.....there is ROI if you look close enough.

Well, you know, they have to do *something* with those massive profits. Can't just keep buying up companies because that can lead to monopolies.
And besides, the 'investment', 'research' become tax write-offs, right?
(yeah, I'm pretty disgusted with it all)
