Is it the same sites?
If yes, did you go through the browser settings I gave you to look for any domain or Cookie blocks?
Are you getting the same message 'firefox gives me the "Unable to connect - Firefox can't establish a connection to the server"
Again, I do not thik this is cause by malware, so it's very important tht you check the settings on the lapatop. I'd also like for you to do the following:
Uninstall Comcast Desktop Software (v1.2.0.9)
Desktop Doctor

Update and rescan with the new version of Malwarebytes I had you run. We'll look for that proxy server.

Referring to the picture above, drag CFScript into ComboFix.exe

- Double click SecurityCheck.exe and follow the onscreen instructions inside of the black box.
