BSOD with SATA hard drives- Viamraid.sys

Hello all- I just built a pc with these specs-
Socket 775 P4 3ghz hyper threading psu
Asrock 775v88 motherboard
dual 1gb memory
1x40gb seagate sata hard drive
1x200gb maxtor sata hard drive
dvd, dvd-r, floppy drives
external usb cable modem
Windows xp installed and updated successfully on the 40gb drive, but if I try to format the 200gb drive, or try run any programs from the 40gb drive, or even sometimes at bootup, i get a bluse screen with the following info-
DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL
Stop:0x000000D1 (0x00000030,0x0000007,0x00000000,0xF77909A0)
Viamraid.sys-address F77909A0 base at F7786000, Datestamp 4063e304
When I installed xp, I pressed F6 to install the drivers from the Asrock disk, which gave me the same blue screen, and then downloaded the sata drivers from Via.
I also tried removing each memory stick, and rebooting but still the same thing happened!!
Any help would be greatly appreciated!! :)
