Corsair Glaive RGB Gaming Mouse Review

"Glaive?" Jeez! Who comes up with this ridiculous sounding gibberish? I hope the give the pre school kids who comes up with them a little something as a token of their appreciation.
RGB? On a mouse? Now who woulda thought?

You seem like an old man that just complains about anything and everything one could complain about. No offense. Get of my lawn' kinda vibes.

Don't see an issue with RGB on a mouse, or RGB for any kind of LED. Infact, ALL LED/Lights should be RGB. Yes, even your home lamps. Would save money and give you endless possibilities.

Looks like it's on sale for $50 at Best Buy. I don't need a mouse right now, but it's a good value for its feature sets.

Glaive is a cool name. It appeals to the Fantasy RPG player in me.
It looks like a good solid gaming mouse at a reasonable price.

You're right, I am.

This is a review? Do you remember the days when monitors were reviewed without any quantitative evidence? People just plugged them in and went, "Yeah, this looks amazing!" Why are mouse reviews still stuck in this cycle?

There are some good quantitative mouse reviews but they are few and far between. My wife wants this mouse but is waiting for a deal. Maybe that eBay one will do the trick (thanks Indigo5!)

I would be a hypocrite to say that there are certain things in life I don't do the same. Mainly music that teens listen to these days...
Don't sweat the small stuff my friend. We're all totally different and unique. Some things that would've impressed when I was a youngster means absolutely nothing to me these days, like RGB lighting for instance, but I can see why it's popular, it's blingy so it appeals to a lot of the youth which is really the target market, but most importantly, it sells products. One thing life has taught me is that you don't have to march to the beat of someone else's drum.

One of the reasons I opted for Steelseries Arctis 7 headphones over Logitech G933 even though I'm a bit of a Logitech fanboy. The RGB is lame. I even switched the fans out of my Corsair case for ones without LED lights. The only RGB lighting I have is the keyboard (helps to be able to see it in the dark) and some backlighting strips behind the monitor for bias lighting effect ( https://www.howtogeek.com/213464/ho...le-watching-tv-and-gaming-with-bias-lighting/ ).

The Glaive looks like a decent offering at a decent price though. And I like the interchangeable side pieces (I used a Ratz 7 MMO for a while and loved the customization). The side buttons look a bit overly chunky but other than that don't mind the design. More interested in the performance and ergonomics than the styling and lighting.

My take on unnecessary RGB (as opposed to functional RGB such as backlit keyboard keys) is that it all adds to an overall aesthetic. If lighting matches in all components then it can help tie the system together visually. Some people find it silly. I think of it as the same as people who like to customize cars. There is a community of enthusiasts who take pleasure in customizing their rides' aesthetics as well as performance, while most people are fine with what they bought from the dealer and never change anything beyond a new cup holder or "Baby on board" sticker. The mindset is so similar that I suspect many PC modders today are the ones who would have been building cars in their garage back in the day. To each their own.

Backlit keyboards are a good thing as far as I'm concerned, even I use one because the natural light fluctuates so much in my study but I couldn't be bothered with RGB, just a single colour, any colour, will do nicely for me.
Yeah, that Corsair mouse doesn't look at all bad, I'm liking it's smaller size and the placement of the browser back/forward buttons but I'm wary of Corsair mice after doling out on a M65 which was a terrible, very uncomfortable pile of junk to me but it was my fault for not trying before buying. I grip a mouse with my fingertips so a smaller mouse is always a plus.

I suppose one benefit of RGB is that you can pick a colour for all of your devices. And then change it x months later when you get bored. Some people don't like having a mouse with a blue light, a keyboard with yellow lights and system fans with red lights. And maybe a keyboard display with another colour. RGB presents a solution. The only RGB I have is on my Logitech G13 display and I set it to green so it matches my Naos mouse. It looks nice for the 2 seconds a day that I notice it.
