Desktop goes black and then normal at start up

When I start up, my desktop will go black then normal then black and finally back to normal. I had a new video driver downloaded which helped fix the grainy resolution but the black to normal still exists. Any ideas?

check for nasties (virii, warez) then troubleshoot to see if theres any programs that are causing it on startup.

since you've changed the vid drivers, try rolling back to its previous version and see if that makes any difference

confirm that you have good temps and power is ok:
1. Speedfan or Everest home, as well as Bios Hardware Monitor can view these things
2. power connections to every device are secure and undamaged
3. try reseating the video card

5. Clean your case off dust...

same thing happened to me. if youve overclocked it, its almost certainly damage from that. it all started with me when i went crazy with overclocking my 5700le so i could get a decent fps in oblivion. and thats when the black screen and reboot started happening. im quite sure its not viruses or adware causing it
