Benj, despite the error message, you are still getting a graphic output correct? That is, you can see something on the monitor?

You say you downloaded the graphics card drivers but downloading is one thing, installing is another. It isn't clear that you installed them. When you ran the executable file (or double clicked it), it didn't try to install?

I think it was installed already because it is listed under add/remove programs..
It searches for VIAAGP1.sys.. Yes, I can see something in the monitor.

I have a Gateway computer that is about 2 1/2 years old. It has an Intel(R) 82815 chip in it. I assume that this is the reason that my sims 2 will not run. Is there anything I can do without having to buy a new chip?

I have the same problem to, with the DirectX 9.0c , but I have years ago, played this game on my pc. Iuninstalled it, and now I want to play it again, it isn't possible..

My problem is the same as Hammerheads, word for word. Except, I don't know squat about these kind of computerry things. So if you can help, PLEASE DO!

Thanks!!

Your gonna run into problems,,

need something thats DXxxxxxxxxxxxxxx9 supported,,

a fifth gen or 6th gen card,

Not necessarily. Even the measly MX400 (for AGP), the FX5200 (for PCI) or the 6200 (for PCI-E) will run that game just fine.

Look at this. Welcome to techspot  !

It's a video card problem...not a software problem. Their video card was made in the DirectX 8.0 or less time.

"DirectX 9.0c compatible" prob with Parallels

Hi. I am new to Windows. We have a intel-based iMac. My daughter was running Sims 2 fine with a partition on the iMac, but the partition size was too small for her programs, so I erased the partition and am starting over again. This time I am using Parallels instead of Boot Camp for the Windows XP platform. The display driver is "Parallels Video Driver" ... anyway, we are getting the same error message of "DirectX 9.0c compatible graphics adapter" needed (or something like that) when she tries to run her newly reinstalled Sims 2 program. Does anyone know how to help with this? Again, we are running the program on the SAME machine, just through Parallels (which created a new virtual machine) instead of the Boot Camp partition. THANK YOU!!! ~~Melanie

how do i fix this?

Okay, here's a new question. I've been playing the Sims 2 happily for 2 days on my grandfather's computer. (BTW, This game is definitely worth trouble, it is awesome.) However, this morning my grandfather successfully got rid of some DLL files associated with his old graphics card which had long since been gone. Now the Sims 2 gives me this same menacing error everyone's having trouble with. We've downloaded every driver update for the GeForce 5200. It won't help. But it isn't our card because I've been playing the game already! We've done nothing to the card, just deleted those old DLL files.

Please help. I've got Sims trapped in the game.

Edit: We've fixed the problem. It may have been a problem unique to our PC, but just in case this is someone else's problem, too....

I went to The Sims 2 > Support > EasyInfo.exe
[The Sims 2 Folder is usually in C:\Program Files\EA Games]
EasyInfo gives you an overview of the things you need to run Sims 2, and whether or not you have them all. The green checkmarks and the red X tell you what you need to improve on your computer. Our problem was the Display Memory was set at 0.0 and the game needs 32.0. Thus, there was a red X. :suspiciou

I told my grandfather and I think he went into some DOS function to set the display card to what it's memory should be (128.0). Now the Sims 2 works as well as ever. If anyone else has this problem, let me know. I can probably get him to explain how he change the settings in detail.

the sims 2 USED to work on my computer. then, i moved across the country. i launched the easy info thing.. and it told me the same thing.. i have 0 display memory and i need 32.0. i'm not sure how to fix that. can anyone tell me?

I have sims 2 and a video card, but whenever i try to get in, it keeps saying the same thing as it said to me0729. my video card manufacturer:VIA/S3G

I'm having the same problem while trying to run the Sims 2 and the Sims 2 nightlife.
I downloaded DirectX 9.0c and tried different compatibility settings, but nothing seems to be working. I also tried to see what was wrong using the EAsy Info option, but this is what came up:

System Overview / Comparison
Your System Results Game Requirements

Operating System Microsoft Windows XP Professional Service Pack 2 (Build 2600) Pass Windows XP/2000/98/ME

System Memory 248.4 Warning 256.0

Processor Speed 2791.3 Pass 800 MHz

DirectX Version 9.0c Pass 9.0c

Display Device Unknown Compatibility

Display Memory 0.0 Fail 32.0

Display Driver 5.1.2600.0 Unknown Compatibility

Sound Device No Sound Devices Found Pass

Sound Driver Unknown Compatibility

I have no clue what to do because this program worked with my previous two computers and both of them were also Windows XP so that can't be the problem.
help?

3D Acceleration for DirectX 9.0c

So I've been playing the sims 2 since I got this computer and one day I turn it on and it tells me that there is something wrong with the directx 9.0c thing. I've been trying for days to figure out what to do with my computer and its graphics adapter. The Directx Diagnostic Tool says that the DirectDraw Acceleration, Direct3D Acceleration, and AGP Texture Acceleration are not available. :(

I have the Intel 82945G Express Chipset Family as my display adapter.
Help would be lovely :grinthumb

No, Savage4 is not hardware T&L capable, sorry.
I've run games that require hardware T&L (homeworld 2) on hardware that doesn't have it (Intel integrated) - first it happened that everything was either light or dark, just 2 shades. I updated the drives and i guess it 'emulated' the T&L because it worked fine (albeit slowly).

Hi, I would also like to ask for some assistance in this matter. When I tried to run the program, I got the message,
Error: "Failed to find any DirectX 9.0c compatible graphics adapters in this system! Please make sure you have a DirectX 9.0c compatible graphics adapter and have installed the latest drivers provided by the manufacturer. The application will now terminate".
I have run the dxdiag program and it says I have DirectX 9.0c running. Is the problem in my Graphics Card? I have ATI Radeon x1050 installed. Any help given ASAP would be much appreciated.

Thanks in advance,
shplayr21

and my processors are intel pentium 4cpv 3.06ghz

please please help because im not very good with computers and i realy want to play this game !

thank you

becky - its not your network adapter that isn't compatible with dx9.0c -> its your video card or display adapter.

the first thing I would try is to google the manufacturer of your computer or your motherboard if you built the computer yourself. Look for a section on the site that says support and downloads -> look for updated drivers for your chipset drivers and display adapter

if you have a video card you will need updated drivers that are compatible with dx9.0 -> if you don't have a video card I would suggest buying a cheap one from newegg.com - just make sure that it can fit in your computer what you will want to look for is do you have AGP slot PCI slot or PCI-E slots available.

If you want just post your make and model computer or motherboard and video card specs and somebody can look up the appropriate compatible software or tell you which video card to look at

In order to run SIMS2 you need a graphics card that supports directx9.0c That means you will need the latest drivers.
If the latest drivers for your card do not support directx9.0c then it just wont work and the only alternative is to buy a new graphics card that does support directx9.0c.
You would also have to download and install direct9.0c itself."

I have a new graphics card (my computer is only about a year old) and I have used the Sims 2 on my computer before. I resently formatted my computer to get rid of Vista. When I try to install directx 9.0c I get an error message "failed to find any DirectX 9.0c compatible graphics adapters in the system! Please make sure you have DirectX 9.0c compatible graphics adapter and have installed the latest drivers provided by the manufacturer. The application will now terminate." What can I do?

For XP right click on my computer, go to properties, then go over to the hardware tab, there will be a button 'device manager'. For vista just go to start then control panel and there is a device manager icon
