Display flickers then dies

I have a dell dimension 8300 with a samsung syncmaster 753 df crt monitor hooked to it. After I have the system running for some time (sometimes only 10 minutes), the screen will freeze but the mouse pointer still moves, then the display will turn off and back on again. It will continue to do this for 10 minutes or so then the monitor loses the display all together and acts as if the monitor has been disconnected. I have tried updating the monitor driver and the graphics card driver but with no effect. I'm guessing this problem may be due to when the computer starts to heat up after running but am not sure. Could this be the graphics card itself, to say would i need to replace it? any help on this issue would be greatly appreciated

It sounds as if the display is shot. Has this only just started to happen?

If your graphics card is causing a fault it will show up in Event Viewer.
