Amazon backs away from plan to display tariff costs as Trump calls Bezos over "hostile" act

Nobody stole manufacturing or took it. Period.

CEO's and corporations moved their production to where it was more cost effective to drive up profits. Period. China didnt steal anything. Companies willingly moved there.

If you think tariffs is going to change that and somehow magically bring manufacturing back here, you are really stupid. Its not cost effective. The next country on the list to be taken advantage of will be. Period. Profits.

American factories cant fill positions as is and some of you act like there is going to be some manufacturing boom in the USA. You are absolutely not paying attention and have no idea what you are talking about. They cant fill the manufacturing jobs WE HAVE NOW. You want to add more while deporting every person who will work those jobs?

The amount some of you try to word salad you way through proving your point is ridiculous. Learn history. Learn economics. Learn the job market and stop sounding completely clueless.

Bezos and the trump admin could have left the tariff charge on there so americans know what products are being imported and can make a better decision to not buy that product. It would have helped their messaging. Instead by them opposing this it proves it was never about bringing manufacturing back or importing chinese items. Its blatently obvious thats not what its about based on their response.

If anything adding the charge and making it visible would have helped their position. Its so stupid how they blew their cover on this.

Honestly, if anyone orders off Amazon and still cant figure out the *why* of high prices from China on their own, they are dumb as sh*t and have no reason to live.
Millions vote for Donald, believing his lies about how he would make things cheap again and whatnot. And millions more was too lazy to vote for sanity and resist the lying criminal...

In other words million of people buy the BS about how China is going to pay the tariffs, if Amazon and others would it clear what the tariffs mean then some of those people would wake up.

99.9% of stuff will still be made in an asian country though as no one is looking to move production to the US without a whole bunch fiscal bonuses to do so so you'll just see stuff being made in India, Vietnam, Thailand, Singapore, Philippine's but guess what most of those countries will still have to buy shiz from china to complete production because the shiz aint made anywhere else
Think you're hitting the nail right on the head to having a realistic take.
A couple of things will be brought back to the US but likely only if it's cheaper to have robots do it.
Pretty much everything else is likely just going to be at least 10 percent more expensive because tariffs. Probably more as diversifying one time costs have to be paid for, the other countries might not be quite as slave labour friendly as China either etc etc. I'm guessing a 15-20% price rise on a whole lotta stuff and a lot of the base materials going from China to the now manufacturing countries.

What if things hit the fan and war breaks out - how fast can the US create ships compared to China? How many steel mills operate in the US compared to China? How about aluminum smelters in the US compared to China?
I would say luckily the US is on good terms with Canada that exports tons of both to the US but ehhhh.
Canada just massively rallied behind a PM who has a strong dislike for Trump's 51st state plans and seems intent on building stronger relationships with the EU instead.

Somewhat ironic that America first seems to lead to a growing European economy and a stronger Euro instead. By the looks of it the European arms industry is about to go through growth not seen since uhh a guy with a funny moustache.

I guess Trump tired of using his "power" to deport defenseless children and decided to pick on someone of his own fakeness.

Me thinks you give Trump too much credit for knowing what he's doing. As I see it, he is turning almost the whole world against him, the US, and fElon Musk.

I wouldn't count on that. Anyone who has not already awoken, would pass it off as "Fake News." We have at least one example here on Tech Spot.

I challenge the Trump Administration to compile and publish a list of products exclusively sourced and made IN the U.S. Then hold a press conference detailing the alternative sources are for the needed foreign made products. You are stuck in a bygone era Trump!!

You seem happy if the US would fall. If it does there would be a very large shift in political alliances, massive disruption of trade between countless countries - just to name a couple things right off the top of my head.

We’re not happy we’re it total dismay as to the way Trump proceeded to do what needed do be done. Because no sane person thinks China’s growing monopoly in manufacturing is a good thing.

Instead of putting together a coalition of traditional Western and Asian allies to pressure/ steer China towards more internal consumption and to apply progressively increasing joined tariffs to force them into joint ventures in the whole “civilized” world, Trump decided to swing a sledgehammer at all those alliances, and threatened some of them with anexation.

It was Trump’s will and sheer incompetence who pitted the US against the whole world (penguins included) prompting a negative reaction from everyone else.

The only sane thing to do for the world is so sit on the sidelines and let US and China go at each other’s throats, Jurassic style, and pick the carcass of the loser together with a significantly weakened winner which won’t be able to stand on his own anymore.

So yes, it will be painful for everyone but in the end a better world will result in which both China and the US will be knocked down a few pegs. They BOTH deserve it.

Not to mention taking money from social policies to build weapons and arms is a good sign of a strong stable economy?

Building up for war and destruction is viewed as a net positive?

These guys and their statements are just... looney!
