Drive Cleaner Popups on Vista machine

I've been plagued with numerous popups for "Drive Cleaner" when using firefox on my Windows Vista computer. I've got Norton Security Center running with up to date definitions and full spyware protection, virus protection, firewall, etc. It doesn't find anything on scan. I've also run Spybot Search & Destroy but it doesn't find anything either. I've run AVG AntiRootkit which found nothing. I can't run most of the other spyware removers because they won't run under Vista. I've just downloaded Hijackthis and generated a log which I'm attaching. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Are you running Norton 360?

Norton internet security 2007 but not Norton 360.

Hello and welcome to Techspot.

Very Important: Before deciding whether you should clean or reformat your system, go and read this thread HERE and decide what it is you want to do.

If after reading the above, you wish to clean your system, do the following.

Go and read the Viruses/Spyware/Malware, preliminary removal instructions. Follow all the instructions exactly. Some of the programme/tools may not be compatible with Vista. If you come across any of these, skip to the next tool/step.

Post fresh HJT, AVG Antispyware and Combofix logs as attachments into this thread, only after doing the above.

Also, let me know the results of the AVG Antirootkit scan.

I was under the impression that only Norton 360 of all Symantec products was compatible with Vista at this time...

I`ve always been under the impression that Norton wasn`t compatible with anything.

You're probably right about Symantec. I aways try to come back to them, but everytime I do, I am disapointed with the performance of their products. AVG may be good, but their freeware updates itself so often that it drives me crazy...

So far, after about 3 months, Windows Live OneCare seems to be working pretty well. I still run Ad-Aware, CCleaner and RegscrubXP ocassionally too
