EA shares take a 20% hit after Dragon Age and FC 25 figures disappoint

Making games is no longer about fun, but about minimizing the time to market and maximizing the way they can make money/ cut cost. So it should not be surprising people are not buying the same recycled contents with generally just cosmetic improvements.

The most perplexing development in the gaming industry is this mindless push for "photo-realism" visuals. So much so that cutting edge hardware can't keep up, and you can imagine most gamer will not experience this "photo-realism" visuals since most will run on mid/low settings to avoid a significant performance degradation. It feels like the visual push is basically to cover for the poor storyline and gameplay. But I mean if most people can't play the game with decent performance, why bother to buy the game at all?

I read the whole industry was WAY down in the time frame.
But hearing it about EA gives me a shamefully happy feeling.

Nothing shameful about it at all. It is well deserved and long overdue in their case. As a fan of NFL football videogames, I'm particularly happy that EA finally got a taste of their own medicine in losing the FIFA license and reaping the consequences of it.
