Elon Musk calls Covid-19 tests "bogus" after receiving different results on same day

BD clearly states that one of their rapidtest device (Veritor) is at most 95% accurate. There's always risk for false-positive or false-negative results when compared with the more-reliable PCR results which used to take days (in the early days of the pandemic).

today PCR test should be the standard if you want an accurate result. just took one last week for less than 90USD here in Indonesia. 24-hours result. can't believe someone like Elon would even consider using such an unreliable method of testing. 4 times!

I think the point musk is trying to make is that this particular testing method is at best a 50/50 accuracy rating. Millions of people will be tested the same so a high percentage of people could be getting incorrect results.

I would still recomend that people follow government advice as much as possible, just to be safe.

Not much longer to go now.. once a vaccine is released in the next few months I believe things will finally start to settle.

Actually, CBS News repported last night that Musk has Covid, or at least believes he does.

Why use the word 'actually', as if that contradicts the previous poster's statement? If you recall, I said 5 days ago in this thread that Musk had Covid, based on those results. It in no way changes the fact that most people do not realize that a single test result tells them very little.

My neighbor, who coincidentally works for SpaceX, tested positive even though she did not show up to her appointment for the test.

I hear that folks that are supposed to be tested for their work or if someone goes to a testing site/doctor's office and signs in to be tested for covid.....but then these people don't show up for the test or they get tired of waiting for their turn and leave....

Those people that "should" have been tested are automatically flagged as positive.

They (government folks) say it's best to assume anyone that doesn't go through with testing is avoiding the test because they are scared of the results due to having some kind of symptom.

I wonder how many "fake positive" results are out there due to this?
This would explain why a few people I know have had family members that grew tired of waiting multiple hours to get their covid test, so they up and left, yet they were contacted a few days later saying they tested positive.

It wouldn't surprise me,

In the uk one of the biggest issues is that only people with symptoms are to be tested, but it's left to the individual to decide if they have symptoms or not! From people at work I have spoke to so far, the majority of people who were off with covid (had a positive test result) said they felt perfectly fine through the whole sickness. So taking that into account, how many people are not even noticing they have symptoms in the first place?

Really everyone in the whole country requires testing within a 7 day period so that you can get a better a true reading on how far the virus has spread.
