Enclosure connects via USB, but is not detected via eSATA

Hello,

I have a new external enclosure with a Maxtor 500gb drive installed. My computer detects the drive when it's connected via USB. However, when I connect via eSATA, there is no detection. I have an onboard eSATA port as well as an eSATA adapter bracket. Neither will allow me to connect. I have an external hard drive connected to the eSATA bracket, and that works just fine (though it isn't detected if connected to the onboard port). Any ideas?

Thanks.

I've solved the problem. My motherboard comes with seven internal sata ports. Ports 6 and 7 are for RAID. I had to plug in the eSATA adapter into one of these ports to get it to work.
