Ethernet works but wifi doesnt

Recently win10 asked me if I would like my pc to "Allow my pc to be discoverable by other PC's and devices on this network." It said that for home/private networks I should have it on, and for public networks it should be off. naturally I turned it on. since then the Ethernet cable hooked to my pc has been working just fine, but the wifi does not. laptops and devices can connect to my network but do not receive a wifi connection. I have already contacted my isp asking them to reset my router, as well as rebooting it several times. nothing seems to help.

I am going to be switching isp's later this week, and will be getting a new router/modem combo. That should fix the issue if it prevails.

WiFi issues on Win/10 have frequently been solved by going directly to the Chip maker website and finding the Win/10 driver for your system (32 vs 64 bit) and the specific chip. DO NOT rely upon Windows Driver Update to do this for you.
