External dvd rw takes 90 mins to burn a dvd

please help....

my new external dvd rw takes over 90 mins to burn a dvd. I do not know why. I check all the options and controls.... its seems ok, when it says its writing at 8x, it is actually doing about 0.7x,.... when i use the toolkit on nero to check....


please help

Is it an USB drive? Have you plugged it into USB 2.0 port? Old USB 1.1 ports don't have the proper bandwidth to go fast enough for proper burning.

I will try and check to see if i had a USB 1.1 or USB 2.0 .... i am not sure which USB ports I have.....

if you have any quick way of checking please tell me...
