True! This is one of the reasons EV's are so dangerous. Not a fan myself. That last sentence speaks volumes.
EV's are full of more toxic chemicals than any combustion engine vehicle. It's insane to think they are anything related to being environmentally friendly.
I'm wondering as to why THIS news is on a TECH website? Seems out of place..
True! This is one of the reasons EV's are so dangerous. Not a fan myself.
I think you're confusing metric with imperial measurements. "10,000 feet", was the depth given, or about 3200 meters. They sunk it in water 10,000 meters deep!
Since you obviously know, are EVs any more dangerous than gasoline vehicles?True! This is one of the reasons EV's are so dangerous.
I know, still sticking with my horse here....not leaving the 19th century.Since you obviously know, are EVs any more dangerous than gasoline vehicles?
Ah yes so I did. Still it’s too deep to dive on.I think you're confusing metric with imperial measurements. "10,000 feet", was the depth given, or about 3200 meters.
After all, the ship didn't go down in the Marianas Trench.
Dem danged 'lectrics is worse at settin' dey selfs afire den gittin' hit in the backside drivun a Pinto.Since you obviously know, are EVs any more dangerous than gasoline vehicles?
They can be a whole lot prettier than a Bentley too:I know, still sticking with my horse here....not leaving the 19th century.
Are you kidding me? A Gypsy Vanner? You know the kind of green house gases that horse emits? You will get far more miles per oat out of a Shetland Pony, help save the environment, and stick it to the Quaker Oats Company! They can be a whole lot prettier than a Bentley too:
I'm pretty sure they only got their bad reputation when Gypsies sold them second hand.
Not to go "too far off topic", but when I was looking for photos, I ran into articles about people breeding miniature vanners. They have gotten them down to about 10 hands. I think one breeder was putting ponies into the mix.Are you kidding me? A Gypsy Vanner? You know the kind of green house gases that horse emits? You will get far more miles per oat out of a Shetland Pony, help save the environment, and stick it to the Quaker Oats Company!
I am not claiming that combustion engine powered cars do not catch on fire. The question is: What‘s the percentage of new(er) vehicles that catch on fire while parked / doing nothing.
The leading causes of vehicle fires were mechanical failures or malfunctions and electrical failures or malfunctions. Older vehicles accounted for three-quarters of the highway vehicle fires caused by mechanical or electrical failures or malfunctions. Maintenance is important throughout the vehicle’s years of use.
Collisions were the leading cause of vehicle fires that resulted in death.
I hope none of this refers to nickel cadmium tech. Because were the most finicky, ornery, self shorting, charge memory retaining, pieces of sh!t that ever were.Shame Ford sold the patent for Nickle based batters to Aramco all those years ago; more promising (and less reactive) battery chemistry that can't be used or studied.
It's a higher capacity version of what Toyota uses in the Prius; they got some sort of exception so long as their battery capacity remained below a certain threshold (I forget the details offhand).I hope none of this refers to nickel cadmium tech. Because were the most finicky, ornery, self shorting, charge memory retaining, pieces of sh!t that ever were.
As for lithium batteries , "Li-Po" are the worst for starting fires. Used mainly in drones and RC aircraft, you're supposed to do any quick charging, inside a fireproof bag.
OTOH, just be thankful that nobody has ever developed a battery electrolyte based on phosphorus.
Great. Now they want to parse when they burn. What‘s the percentage of new(er) vehicles that catch on fire while parked / doing nothing.
You're remiss if you don't supply the make, model, model year, time of day, month, year, and GPS location, of each vehicle fire...Great. Now they want to parse when they burn.
