Forum reorganization is coming soon, give us your feedback

I'm subscribed to Drivers, News, Downloads, and Articles. I've not received anything from the four feeds the last day or two.

I'm using Windows Live Mail for Windows 7. I figured it was my application at first. I would have tried refreshing the feeds, but I couldn't find the RSS feeds on TechSpot to confirm you haven't taken them down. The one link at the bottom of the page is the only RSS link I could find. I couldn't find the page with the different RSS category links. If you confirm there was no changes to RSS feeds, I will try deleting and establishing the feed again. Beyond that, I'm not sure what else to do.

Current Feeds:
  1. http://feeds.feedburner.com/techspot/drivers
  2. http://feeds.feedburner.com/techspot/news
  3. http://feeds.feedburner.com/techspot/downloads
  4. http://feeds.feedburner.com/techspot/reviews
I just tried each link in Firefox and they came up, so I know they are still active. In hindsight, I should have tried that first. Instead I tried finding the links on TechSpot and was sidetracked in the confusion.

OK let me make the changes and report back. Yep, I'm back in business. Thanks Julio!

Is there a reason why that link is not where the RSS link at the bottom leads? I tried finding that page through the sites user menus. The social widget at the top doesn't lead to that page either.

Sorry if already mention earlier and I missed it, but where do questions and discussions about devices and drivers fit in?

A Connectivity problem area should be in the mix somewhere too. Cause honestly, without access to internet (and problems involved with that) we wouldn't even be able to share and interact on here. And once without connection, you're getting frantic to go online again, trying to solve the problem FAST somehow.

In which case TechSpot would be of no help, because obviously there would be no connection. Such issues would be either researched before or after, having an area for connectivity problems would not be a fast solution. That is unless there was a second alternative, to sharing and interacting with TechSpot.

That type of thread could go into PC Hardware > Networking

Though perhaps the "hardware" part of it should be made more ambiguous or general to cover hardware/software kind of topics. So thanks for raising this flag ;)

I'm not a know-it-all but if one can't get online, I'd first check to make sure my pc was connected & then call my ISP if not. :)

hmm; 80% of the time, Connectivity is a software config issue, 20% is device drivers

Wow! Techspot looks great!

Still, the human touch needs to be there.

Techspot has grown not only because of the great technical support, but also because of the “Human Touch.”

First the “Birthdays” went, and now the “Welcome” thread is gone.

Hi, Lookin! Good to see you still at it!

@ravisunny2 that's actually valuable feedback which we'll take in consideration.

@AnonymousSurfer we've done a few changes already, many in the backend, and some of the category changes will come in stages. I hope we can complete all the reorganization by the end of the year.

Add some type of key word, phrase search? I just lookied to see if a particular issue had been addressed. As a brand new newbie, it appeared I had to search thru 214 individual topics. Daunting. Unsure whether I'd mess things up by starting a new thread.

However, using it to note post mortem symptom::solutions would be valuable to many. Frequently we see this and the user accesses TS with a one system to resolve issues on another.

I'm here so rarely that I don't feel I have a right to offer feedback, but it occurs to me that it would be nice to have a forum (with a better name) for totally general chat (like people talking about movies) and a separate one for general computer/internet-related chat (like asking opinions about Net Neutrality).

I would like members to have the ability to remove their own post(s) completely. This would save a little wear and tear on the part of the moderators in cases of double posts, ill thought out posts, and what have you.

Agree, but the OP should only be able to delete for a limited period of time (2 days?), or if there is no more than one reply.

In addition, the OP should be able to mark a post 'completed' or 'solved' which would be a good guide for others coming across it. Very effective as already done in Virus Forum. I'm not sure if marking 'solved' should prevent further posts or not - probably not, as that does seem to occur quite a bit.

I am also often frustrated by an OP who does not specify OS. Maybe there could be a section in a first post where there are mandatory option boxes to click for this type of info. Maybe OS, SP, laptop/desktop at least.
