GeForce Beyond: watch Nvidia unveil the RTX 4000-series graphics cards here at 8am PT...

Not just selling to whoever pay more, they also ordered a lot of ASIC's with increased prices. Made the boards and after that Nvidia asked all AIB's to reduce prices below the point of proffit.
Some companies could take the hit, some not.
So from my point of view both companies forcasted the 2022 sale a bit too hi and not expecting the market trend.

EVGA 100% sold to miners just like everybody else. Let's not make them the good guys here, both companies only care about their bottom line.
They didn't sell pallets of GPUs to large mining operations. If miners had EVGA cards, its because they were through the same queue as the gamers, not because they emailed the company's sales department and placed a volume order.

They didn't just sell pallets, but many many pallets. Do you really think they said "pass" to 30-50% increased margins?

EVGA made their bet like everybody else on crypto going strong and were caught with their pants down when the price crashed and people stopped buying new GPUs. Now they are forced to sell at a "loss" after making tons of profit during the crypto boom.
