Hardcore porn appears on news sites, including the Washington Post, after Vidme domain...

Facepalm: Looking through respectable websites such as The Washington Post, New York Magazine, and the Huffington Post, one wouldn’t expect to see embedded videos with titles such as “Why Don’t We Tag Team Your GF?” Surprisingly, that’s exactly what shocked visitors were faced with, the result of a porn company buying the expired domain of a defunct video hosting site.

Twitter user @dox_gay (via Motherboard) spotted the hardcore filth popping up between stories about Martin Shkreli, Donald Trump, and more. Sites across the internet, including The Verge, Mashable, and Uproxx, were suddenly showing the likes of “Marsha and Megan Make a Mean Team,” which isn’t an uplifting tale about two women who create a successful startup.

The problems stemmed from an adult entertainment company called 5 Star Porn HD and its acquisition of a domain for video hosting site Vidme. After launching in 2014 as a combination of YouTube and Reddit, Vidme shuttered in 2017 before being acquired by Giphy. Vidme’s Twitter account is still up, though it hasn’t posted anything since 2017, and its domain recently expired.

Seemingly as a result of the acquisition, all articles that feature Vidme embeds redirected to the 5 Star Porn HD homepage, as does the vid.me site—you may not want to confirm the latter while at work. This could have all been a marketing stunt by the company, of course.

Most major sites have now cleaned up the embeds, but with some of the articles several years old, you might be unlucky enough—or lucky, depending on your point of view—to run across some accidental porn yourself.

I honestly don't know what's funnier, the fact that this happened or the fact that Rob Thubron used the term "Hardcore Filth" like someone who's about to turn 85 years old. I would propose that Donald Trump is far more deserving of that title than pornography ever was.

That completely depends on how one measures success. Depending on who they are, I might find it very uplifting! :joy:

I wonder if Jeff "Lex Luthor" Bezos has been seeking a procreative way to increase readership numbers at the Washington Post. Maybe this was his solution. :imp:

🤣
I had actually edited my first post to address this before I read yours. Too funny, eh? I'm sure that a lot of people found the tale very uplifting.

That was a moronic moment of epic proportions. IF the internet can not regulate itself it needs government regulations. I do NOT want porn in my home. This is unacceptable. Yet another reason to proactively and mercilessly block ads!

I use Opera is my primary browser, and Firefox (primarily), for financial transactions.

Opera contains a highly effective ad blocker, stock. The trouble with that is, at many sites you hit, a "paywall", (of sorts) stating, "drop your ad blocker or else", accompanied by a grayed our screen.

While it's true that the same information is available elsewhere, it is a tad annoying to resume searching for something you, (or rather Google), has already found.

Since the topic respects the idea that the porn was injected accidentally, I can't quite fathom your response, which addresses itself vehemently to the idea that it was intentional..

EDIT: I have never experienced "porn popups", when visiting legitimate sites, about subjects unrelated to intimate sexual topics. In fact, I could search "human sexuality" at Wiki, and still not experience them.

However, when I "accidentally", (or perhaps "inadvertently") :) find myself navigating to sites involving, "erotic arts", popups come fast and furious, along with my AV blowing up blocking notices like mad..

So, "an ad blocker" isn't really the solution you seek. Dealing with firewall settings and the hosts file, are far better solutions, (but a lot more time consuming), than simply turning on an ad blocker.

This episode could have easily been prevented by wiping the servers involved with the purchased domain. So maybe your anger should be directed at at an either lazy, incompetent, or yes, perhaps malicious, IT staff.

And I thought I could watch Stormy and Trump in action...
Apparently, you'll have to wait for the book.

(Which unfortunately, may not be published).

In the meantime, if bleach blondes are your thing, (not judging, I like them myself),, you can do a "deep dive" <(pun intended), on these three young starlets: Allie Addison, Kenzie Reeves, and Hanna Hays.

"Stormy Daniels", (IMO at least), is well past her prime. Personally, I don't think I could even sit through the trailer of Stormy and "the Donald". Him with his died red comb-over flapping in the breeze.

Besides, the whole, "six ax handles broad" mythology, is best left to Paul Bunyan's blue ox "Babe", rather than the reality of #45's likely pasty white posterior..:dizzy::poop:

Kenzie Reeves is hot (and is so filthy that it's hilarious) but my favourite bleached blonde will always be Shyla Stylez. It was a terrible loss when she passed away. She had the sweetest smile in all of porn history.

Must be a Canadian thing, eh?
