I'm away from my XP machine but under Windows 2000 the executable (taskmgr.exe) can be found under C:\I386\taskmgr.exe. Otherwise you can try searching for it.

Double clicking on the executable should bring up the Task Manager. If necessary, you could create a shortcut to your desktop. That said, I don't know why ctrl alt delete doesn't work. Maybe there is a problem with the executable. Perhaps it was deleted, moved or corrupted in some way. You'll know more when you locate the file.

ok, so i went to that folder and it wusnt even there....... i tried searching for it and all it came up with wus a .ex file and all the files in that folder are .cab files......

ok, i understand wut it is saying, and i downloaded the trial version of avg. but i dont know how to shut off the system restore can someone help me with this

Ok If Anyones Task Manager Is Not Working, Here Is Wut I Did And It Is Simple And Worked.... First Shut Off The System Restore By Going Into Search And Searching For System Restore. Next Click The Settings Button Then Check The Box That Says Something About Turning It Off. The Restart Your Computer In Safe Mode By Hitting F8 A Couple Times During The Boot. The Run Ad-aware Se And Any Other Anitvirus U Want To Run. It Should Find It And Then Erase It. Thats It, It Worked For Me !
