How to make List the default file view in XP Home!?

I HATE icons! And all the room they take up in a file or folder list.

I prefer List as my default view, but in XP how do I do that?
Had no problems doing that on my old machine with 98SE.

Open a folder and change the view to whatever you like(in your case list), click on the tools menu. Select folder options and click on the view tab. Click on the apply to all folders button. Click apply/ok.

I seem to remember knowing that, but if it was more
than a few days ago - well, ancient history.

Memory is the 2nd thing to go, forgot what the first one was!
