The Terminator at 40: the sci-fi cult classic that still shapes how we view the threat of AI

People only started considering The Terminator movie seriously after Terminator 2 came out, which was a masterpiece. The first movie wasn't any near as good, IMO.
You are sadly very mistaken on this topic, and like most of the people don't get it!

The first Terminator was the only movie in the series with director's original vision of the story/plot. It is the best movie of the series.

Terminator 2 is the Hollywood's romanticized version from the shared universe, with Arnold becoming the good guy because of the actors popularity, and many other decisions made just to increase profit, not what Cameron intended with the series in the first place.

Terminator 2 final scene showing they prevented the war, and Connor becoming a governor was cut from the film to make endless sequels!

This is all nonsense, sorry. T2 was absolutely Cameron's vision. That he collaborated with other writers doesn't dilute that, he had final say on every aspect of the film. There's no evidence the studio or anyone else made any creative decisions.

Nope, it was heavily commercialised - a movie for the masses, three facts why Terminator 2 sucks are:

1. they cut the ending in the last minute, a one that was supposed to be in the film and end the franchise, so studios can make infinite sequels.

2. Arnold was made a good guy because popular actors brings more money this way, instead of casting a new actor, or a human instead of a machine.

3. John Connor was made a helpless kid with mommy, instead casting adult Connor, to appeal to wider audiences, to make film more teen-age friendly, so they sell more tickets!

Cameron did the same crap with Titanic making people believe that Jack&Rose are real life characters, a lie that 99% of people who watched it believe

Again, all speculative nonsense. You back up your claims with...many empty words, with no provenance.

Hey, everyone's entitled to their own incorrect opinion. Believe what you want to believe. There are actual facts out there that will dispel your colorful opinions. But first you have to look for them.

First suggestion: ignore reddit, celeb magazines and website, TMZ, and any other third-party sources.

I had the "honor" to be chewed-out by Cameron during post-pro on T2, for not racking-focus hard enough while projecting dailies. That, however, puts me not in an elite club, but just one of many thousands who've suffered the same over the decades; he's notorious for being unpleasant to work with. But it's that characteristic which makes his films 'authentic' so to speak. He demands perfection, and he demands that his vision be met.

The eighties and the nineties were simply the very, very best time to be alive in this country. I started at 22 yrs old in 1980, and ended up at 41yrs old, in 1999. The days when every other film was pretty darn good!! Not to mention the incredible music of those two decades!! I'd, go back in a NY minute!
Cannot agree more!
