I have a virus an cannot complete all 8 steps

  1. I searched google becasue I recently got "Trojan horse Generic 13.BQW" on my laptop. AVG 8.5 found this virus and it semms to be attacking an AVG file and a Symantec file.

I have completed steps 1-3 and have disabled my resident shield for AVG.

I tried steps 4-7 but cannot becasue when I try to launch the installation .exe files from my desktop an error occurs that says that the program has stopped working. I don't know if this is because of the trojan or not.

I plan on cleaning up my laptop with any help I can receive from this forum and then doing a clean install. I am not formatting and installing yet because I want to make sure all my files are clean before I transfer them to my external.

    Thanks for the help!

Does this mean that you are running 2 anti-virus applications at the same time?

No I have AVG currently running. I uninstalled Norton Antivirus after the subscription ended but there are trace files that were not deleted after the uninstall.
