Infected but can't detect it?

Greetings-

Is it possible that a virus on someone else's computer has used my email address as the reply-to? My father got a virus, I believe it is a Sober.AC.worm or similar, and I'm getting all the bounced back mail.

I never received the initial email or attachment, reg_text.zip, and I'm running lots of virus protection. In fact, someone replied back to me with the nefarious attachment attached and it got snagged right away by my Panda Platinum.

Basically, how do I disinfect/repair the damage from a virus/trojan/worm that I can't find on my computer?

HJT log attached as .txt file.

Many thanks in advance!!

I agree about SP2 but was just worried about any incompatibilities and/or messing up my current settings. Would you recommend using the CD over the automatic update?

What do you make of the virus? Is it possible that I never was infected and my email address was pulled from my father's computer?

Use the CD.

Both of you probably used Outlook or Outlook Express. Nothing surprises me where those programs are concerned.
Get Mozilla Thunderbird. During install, it will transfer all messages and contacts from OE.
Then DITCH the M$-Junk. Make sure to UNinstall it.
