hmmm after looking at all the writing on the boards, i did find some differences. I am not exactly sure if these are the revision numbers but here is what i found:

OLD BOARD:
94V-0
HannStar J MV-4
0644-21-21

NEW BOARD (from ebay)
94V-0
GX B-V0A
0643-13-21

all the other information written on the board is the same. The only difference are the last lines from above (they might be the revision numbers) it changed from 0644-21-21 to 0643-13-21

Should I ship it back one more time and ask for one with the same revision number?

If I get another fan, is there a way to guarantee that the new fan will work with the current new mobo that i have?

Well I've been out Googling those (very close) numbers (namely: HannStar J MV-4 and GX B-V0A)

It's taking time :(

There could be a power difference issue, as this one: HannStar J MV-4 is Compaq (HP) and this one: GX B-V0A is Dell. But they both say interchangeable

You may need to contact HP on this: https://www.techspot.com/vb/topic100655.html
As there's just too much info scattered across the net !

alright, i order a new fan, and the exact same thing happened. I think its a power issue also. If it is, how would i solve it? do i change the power connector cable? is there some way i can tweak the power somehow?

thanks for all the help so far :)

Did HP give you any info? Like yes you can use either board?
Maybe you're best off selling it, and starting again ;) It is taking a long time to solve this one.

i havent called HP yet....i will do that in the morning, unless they have 24 hour service...but even then, i have a midterm to study for, haha

but um, are u talking about selling my laptop and starting over?

i have a desktop to use....but would like my laptop back...but yah...i started posting on this thread in december...so it has been like 3 months already :(

i will check online techs right now

OMG! i feel so stupid!

i just checked the hp website, and apparently the original problem that i had with the display is a major problem affecting this laptop. and that it is covered under an extended free warranty. now all i have to do is call them tomorrow morning and they will pay for the shipping to and from my apartment.!!!

here is the link if anyone else is having this problem!

Glad you are getting it sorted. I have the same problem on a dv2100 pavilion but as its the intel not AMD model HP says the graphic chip problem doesnt exist so they won't fix it free even though Nvidia have confirmed it is the same chip with the same fault in both.

the only problem with me is that, im i passed the 24 month period...i wish i had saw it earlier...it messed up starting last november and it finally died on me in december (right when the 24th month ended) now its march and i dont know if they'll do it for free anymore :(

i really hope they do, i'll explain to them my situation and hope for the best.
