Intelligence is very important in any type of warfare. In my opinion it is this kind of leaking that makes Snowden a traitor. It's time for Mr. Snowden to mysteriously slip down a flight of stairs and die. Of course I'm sure Putin is guarding his little show monkey closely.

There are no such thing as "allies"; there are only temporary interests. At the moment, Australia's interests mostly align with our own; that can change at any moment.

When the NSA spies on us Americans it is shameful and illegal. But when the NSA is doing its job it is their business as usual, and I am glad to shell out my taxes so that they can do that. okay then can you explain what where to happen if they actually used data from you. Let's say you are a scientist and managed to come up with something cool. Offcourse you are living in let's say an other country instead of the America. Would you like it if your product that the world didn't know about is already registered and patented

When the intimate details of a spy agency's activity are frequently appearing in popular news, it isn't doing its job. Clandestine intelligence operations by definition are not supposed to be painfully conspicuous.

Oh come on now, you honestly don't believe that what we see is the only thing they are doing do you? For every "shocking" story you see they are probably doing 10 things you will never hear about. This is mostly to make the general population think they know everything they are doing not to mention everyone forgets that the CIA even exists by now.

Yes largely depends on which party is in Government wrt what level of allegiance is present. Conservatives very pro-US alliance/chest beating about it. Left wing is still pro-US but they don't get in everyone's face about it.
