Losing hard drives when starting system

On starting my system when I go to see the hard drives installed I find they have all dissappeared and have to restart my system to get them back on. Does anyone know why this is happening. Any help will be appreciated.

i dont know why that is happening to you, but that happened to me too...it has something to do with the windows explorer....next time it happens, try to restart just the explorer.exe ....i reinstalled my OS and it fixed it :p...

You might have a look at this program. It is a collection of many different programs, and one of the 'fixes' is the 'DVD not seen' problem.
You need to download the program, unzip it, install it.
http://www.softpedia.com/progDownload/IObit-Toolbox-Download-163455.html
(Use the softpedia secure download link.)

When run, a small black dialogue opens on screen. Click; Repair, Winfix, (run) then max the screen. Click; Advanced fix, system.
Second item up from last is, 'CD drive or DVD drive icon is' ......etc.
Click 'fix' over on the right edge of screen.
Hope that is what you wanted.
