Solved Lost network connections after virus removal - Win XP

i have two win xp computers that, once upon a time (up until monday's reboot) saw each other perfectly.

previous to monday i had one of those fake security viruses that i used the microsoft removal tool to rid my computer of. and it did, so come monday morning the other computer on my network was able to share files, etc..until i got in, saw the message to reboot my machine for the changes to take effect and ever since then i've had issues with the network.

first i could not connect to the network or get an internet connection. using another machine, i sought out answers and found somewhere that told me to delete the dhcp depend on services registry entry, which i did and thus allowed me an internet connection.

that was after i found the netbt.sys file was missing from win 32 drivers and i extracted it from the win xp cd.

i can't restore to any restoration point i've tried...help!

please?

Thanks for the reply, Broni - I have fixed the issue.

netbt.sys was not only missing from the win32 drivers, but from the registry as well - I exported the registry entry from another pc here and imported it into my registry. fixed the problem after six hours of figuring it out!
