MacBook Pro with Retina users report fan speed issue

Several early 2013 MacBook Pro with Retina display owners are reporting a problem with the system’s cooling fan. Based on a number of reports across the web and even on Apple’s own discussion boards, the problem seems to be that the fan kicks into high gear when there is no need for additional cooling such as when surfing the web with just a few tabs open.

Furthermore, most users say the notebook isn’t even warm to the touch when the cooling fan is activated. The fan will spin up to full speed before returning back to its normal state. According to Geek.com, the issue may stem from a bug in the system’s fan management software when using new SanDisk solid state drives. Apple previously used Samsung drives in the MacBook Pro with Retina display but switched over to SanDisk units more recently.

Apple hasn’t issued an official comment on the issue but at least some users have been successful in getting their computer replaced due to the problem while others were reportedly told that nothing is wrong and the system is operating normally. If a fix is to come down the pipeline, it sounds like a simple software update could take care of things based on what we have heard thus far.

Last month Apple refreshed the line by introducing slightly faster processors and a new lower entry price. On average, the revisions are between three and five percent faster than the originals but retail for as much as $200 less.

I had SO many troubles with my rMBP, it's unspeakable. It crashes every now and then, or gets stuck. iTunes sometimes is skipping audio when playing. It would hang while working with my Netgear NAS. Safari renders pages erroneously and sometimes computer hangs when I zoom in and out in it. I had to install a third party program to fix the nasty scrolling accelerator they introduced in Mountain Lion. Not to mention the stupid multi-lingual system where the keyboard layout gets changed in applications against your will... I think this fan issue is the only thing I didn't have. And there is a lot of people having similar problems, even changing their logic boards and that doesn't help. It's the most expensive computer I ever had, and the most problematic one. I'm waiting eagerly for new version of OS X, hoping it will solve the issues. My previous macbook pro didn't have a single problem, ever! If Apple won't pay attention to product quality, they will fall. They only got as high as that because of their software. Yeah, hardware design was great, but it was reliable and well-designed software that attracted professionals. And who else will pay thousands for a buggy computer? We can have that for a few hundred.

Wow. Some one was alowed to post about hardware issues in their forums. Usualy when one complains of hardware issues they get deleted in a couple of hours. You can only ask questions. If you complain of issues in there they get deleted or censored.
