  1. Microsoft has released a new Insider Preview build of Windows 10 to those on the Fast ring. Build 11099, the first build to be released in 2016, focuses primarily on improving stability of the operating system.

Gabe Aul, Vice President of Engineering for the Windows and Devices Group at Microsoft, revealed that build 11099 doesn't include big noticeable changes or new features. Instead, the build focuses on structural improvements and optimizations to Windows' shared core, OneCore, which will allow the Windows team to begin adding new features and improvements in the near future.

This build appears to be one of the first to fall under Microsoft's new Fast ring release criteria, which are now much closer to Microsoft's internal standards. This means Insiders can expect more frequent and potentially more buggy builds while on the Fast ring, and sometimes new builds, such as this one, will not include any significant new features.

Build 11099 does include some known issues, including one that breaks log ins for devices using Citrix XenDesktop. There is also a bug that causes some applications that use Adobe Flash to crash on launch, although the issue doesn't affect Microsoft Edge. Defaults for some applications will be reset when upgrading to this build as well.

For those that want to check out the latest Windows 10 build, hop onto the Fast ring and download the update now. Gabe Aul warns that for those who remain on the Fast ring, expect to see a few more similar builds in the coming months before any noticeable changes start to appear.

    1) Make it faster
    2) More stable
    3) More responsive
    4) Less intrusive on privacy
    5) More secure

If you can deliver the above, I will be a happy user...

It's good that they're going to be rolling out builds more quickly, it will be interesting to see how RS progresses from here. Edge definitely needs more work, but they're improving Windows 10 pretty quickly.
