If there isn't a direct sequel then there should at least be a few games launched with the Max graphics engine. Should provide some stunning looking titles. 3dMark uses the same engine but I'm not sure if any other games that utilise it have been released yet.

i really agreed to arris .. to have more gaming came with maxeffect engine is still no a sequel from maxpayne .. but i really love every single thing of maypayne.....damn that was a piece of art their making !!! the story line, the gamplay, and of course the graphics is totally awesome....

As someone mentioned, Need for Speed Hot Pursuit 2.

Championship Manager 4

Surely all FF Games are the same just with different graphics etc. When will Square make a "new" FF Game.

I don't know about that.... Each Final Fantasy game is a total redo of the story.. There's no coorelation between any of the games. They all have totally different plots and story lines, side quests.. etc... Although I can't say much for their character selection anymore. I've seen a lot of "repeat" characters in the Final Fantasy series.... Characters with simliar looks or attributes as in a previous version of the game. Aside from that, the stories are totally different and the mechanics behind the games change like the weather. The general purpose is still there though - 100% RPG. If you consider that "the same", then so be it.

As for my sequel pick, I'd like to see Diablo III - Blistering flames of Death and Despair hit the shelves soon. ;) I can't imagine how they could pick up where they left off or even make it much different from the last, but I can't get enough of that pointing and clicking action.

These are games that I really look forward to playing, and as I am probably will be among the only ones I'll play, since I never play the *bad* games :D

1 Duke Nuk'em Forever
2 Deus Ex 2
3 Half Life 2
4 Need for speed 6 (sequel to 2000/Porsche Unleashed)
5 Starcraft 2

Dunno where to put all the upcoming Unreal games though, but count them in also...

Is there plans for a Starcraft 2? It would seem logical with Warcraft and Diablo also having sequels but I hadn't heard anything of this. If there is plans for one (and I guess even if there aren't) it probably would be my pick from most wanted sequel.

Also I'm really looking forward to seeing MarioKart on Gamecube, so much so that I might have to buy a Gamecube just for it.

1.) Final Fantasy XI
2.) Doom 3
3.) Tekken 5? Tekken 4 Tag? Some kind of Tekken please!
4.) Diablo III
5.) Mario Kart GC
6.) Panzer Dragoon Orta
7.) Soul Calibur 2
8.) Super Mario Sunshine
9.) Ninja Gaiden X-Box
10.) Zelda GC
11.) Metroid GC

I like games - I want them all!

Pit Soul Super Street Tekken Kombat Fighter...?

Having just finished Diablo II:LOD I too would love to see DiabloIII.
Half Life 2.
Doom 3.
UT2.

I still have to finish FFX before I start wanting FFXI!!! ;)

Doom 3
Starcraft 2 (haven't heard any plans from Blizzard on this though)
A Sequel to Arcanum (probably not going to happen)
Diablo III

Soul Caliber II ...Coming to Gamecube and other consoles early 2003. Oh Yes:D

I'd love to see Max Payne 2 as well, and how about an expansion pack for Jedi Outcast ?

No, but then again, Valve hasn't said that they infact are making the sequel to Half-Life 1 either ;)

Blizzard would be silly not to make a sequel to Starcraft because it is still one of the biggest online games ever, and I think it might still be the biggest. I know it was back in 2000.

I'm sure they will come out with a sequel, but they probably won't announce it until they get Warcraft done and rolling. Afterward, they may be developing Diablo III, although I heard they are doing away with the series all together to "replace" it with another title.

Those screen shots look like crap, I seriously hope they are fakes.

I don't doubt that Blizzard plans SC2. They would be foolish not to make a sequel to Starcraft. It is still one of the most popular, if not still the most popular online game as Rick said.

Another great game that I'd love to see another sequal to is Dungeon Keeper. The original was as good as Warcraft and DK2 was awesome even if it does have a few bugs.

The idea behind the game itself is genious. If you haven't played it or heard of it, the idea is that you are an Evil Dungeon keeper and you claim as much territory as possible by having your minions dig out and build rooms. You must destroy any rival keepers and defeat the "Goodly Heroes" who are trying to rid you from their realm.

It really is good to be bad.

CS

Without a doubt, it has to be Counter-strike Condition Zero for me. From what ive seen (and imho) the worlds greatest game is about to get one whole lot better, and with single player to practice with too!!! cooooo'moooon!!!
Lets just hope that the enemy AI is as good as theyre claiming it to be, i read in one magazine in an article written by a guy who tested the games single player mode, that it felt like he was up against real life enemies (ala'; Net opponents) because the ai was so outfoxing and clever. Allthough he was probably paid to say that it does sound, and look very a very exciting prospect.
I will certainly buy it on release, along with just about everybody else who gives a damn about computer gaming no doubt.

I agree with Rick. Surely the biggest sequel potential must come from Starcraft. That was the biggest thing until CS. Even after in some ways. It was/is a classic. It did everthing right.

I can't really think of a way to improve it to be honest, other than adding other races, and abilities.

The only downside with RTS's is that when the developers jump on the 3D bandwagon, it tends to ruin the game play by over complicating things. For instance, how many people actually use the zoom and camera tilt options in Warcraft 3??? They aren't needed.
