well, i went to modify the logon screen for windows xp sp 2. i downloaded it from this website, and i installed it but then realized it was a german file. so when i went to go back into windows, i couldnt get into the boot screen. so i restarted, went into safe mode and that didnt work either. system restore didnt work. i tried going into ubuntu linux 7.04 live cd. copied the backup of the original file (yes i made a backup of the original) to a flash drive, renamed it to msgina.dll (which it should be named) and went to copy it back over. linux says my c:\ drive is read only, so it couldnt copy it.
i also tried to access my normal c:\ drive from a hard drive with windows 98 SE on it. it couldnt detect my hard drive though
so, does anyone know how i can restore the original msgina.dll to my hard drive without wiping my hard drive? any help would be greatly appreciated.
thanks
