No CD or DVD burner has been detected?

Ok, my CD drive was running fine last night, but now it isn't. Simple as that. It was running a Spore installation CD 24 hours ago, and this morning, no blank CDs would show up in My Computer, so I tried to burn a CD and Media player says No CD or DVD burner has been detected. HELP!

I really need it to burn an Ultimate Boot CD before tomorrow, (see my previous post about booting difficulties) or else I will miss a coursework deadline!

Would really help if i knew what type of CD/DVD drive it is, you can try flashing to the newest firmware.
