No wifi

My computer will not connect to the wifi at all and my uncle says I have to download the wifi software again ! How do I do that? I have a Compaq presario CQ58

• Hey jasminemj28. More info is needed. No software needs to be downloaded, the laptop has to have it's wireless adapter turned on (usually with a switch somewhere on the case or with an Fkey+number combination if it is turned off)

Do you have Internet access at home and also have a wireless router?
Are you trying to connect to a wi-fi hotspot like at a library,cafe, etc?

You can also add a temporary USB network device to connect you to the internet. The USB will have to be installed. Sometimes doing that "wakes up" the Laptop's Wi-fi.
