I was able to get a 1070 a few months ago for around $200. I should be good for some time running 1070 sli. By the time games come out that use ray tracing etc, new cards will have come out, so rtx is pointless .
I wonder how long before this becomes a pure monopoly for nVidia anyways due to the complexity of these chips increasing? How long before AMD just can't keep up for example?
Yeah, that's because they haven't upgraded architectures since the 7970. That's 7 YEARS ago! It's been a very long time since AMD delivered an outstanding GPU arch.
Because of RTX prices, it's all a marketing plan to get rid of old stock and most likely either see a price decrease in RTX or simply milk us double time! ****ers.
I wish I could blame Nvidia for the pricing of the RTX series but they are just doing what any good publicly held company does, and that is maximise the profits of a product they know has minimal competition.
If AMD's graphics division wasn't such a mess than this would all be fine. Literally the only way the GPU market can improve is if Intel or AMD deliver stiff competition. Pray be it sooner rather than later.

Exactly Vulcan. And quite honestly, the pricing isn't bad right now. An overclocked model 2080 can be had for around 650 if you catch a good sale (as I did), and it's enough to 4k game. That's not a bad deal considering the upcoming 7nm AMD GPU will not outperform a 2080, won't have RT or DLSS, and will be priced at $700. Those complaining may want to look into gaming consoles.
Lol a 660? Boy running the first Modern Warfare at 60fps on your 22in monitor must be a blast!!I see a bunch of kids in a candy store screaming about prices. I have a GTX 660 and should I find need in a faster card. I will find the money to get one.
Just because you don't game on High/Ultra doesn't mean others don't like to.I see a bunch of kids in a candy store screaming about prices. I have a GTX 660 and should I find need in a faster card. I will find the money to get one.
I am surprised anyone still SLI's.I was able to get a 1070 a few months ago for around $200. I should be good for some time running 1070 sli. By the time games come out that use ray tracing etc, new cards will have come out, so rtx is pointless .
I think @cliffordcooley meant you people, (for the extra sensitive read, "gaming community") are also the ones who do the most whining, whimpering, complaining, along with shamelessly begging for better hardware, and then b!tch!ng ad naseum about the price when it's offered.Just because you don't game on High/Ultra doesn't mean others don't like to.
And just exactly how beat those used cards are.Would be interesting to know the ratio of new to used cards floating on the market right now.
They still have the console market to keep them afloat and the cpu side they are finally starting to be profitable. If you noticed the die shown off at ces rumors are the 8 core chip can probably add another 8 cores and or even a gpu which on paper will de a disaster for Intel. I believe Intel should also be scared. As always AMD is fighting on two fronts and in war that is always very difficult!Dispite people hating on nvidia over pricing. its not their fault ppl are willingly buying their cards. people can simply not buy them or wait.
most know that nvidia make the beat cards hands down which is why ppl buy them in the first place. maybe ppl should be yelling at AMD to step up their game n offer some competition for a change. Stop crying about what nvidia are doing n get on AMD for not doing enough.
Intel is still a year or 2 from entering the gpu market but I highly doubt they will take on nvidia the first go around but if they do make headway, it just will show the AMD may be done for in the gpu market.
its now or never for AMD in the gpu market and they dont even understand whats happening.

I am so tired of this comment. It is not AMD fault if Nvidia RTX card such a scam! It is Nvidia strategy to try to squeeze AMD in the corner with a feature that only Nvidia possess... but guess what... RTX and DLSS are nothing more than Gameworks gimmicks.
I am too. Lets all stop making games look better and go back to 90s graphics.I am so tired of this comment.
Yeah I think its really AMD to blame here for the lack of competition. I honestly don't think Nvidia has done anything wrong here. The 2060 is actually not bad cuz it gives the 1080 a run for its money. I think we'll finally have competition when Intel enters the GPU market next year.Because of RTX prices, it's all a marketing plan to get rid of old stock and most likely either see a price decrease in RTX or simply milk us double time! ****ers.

I guess that makes sense. I think people just don't understand that R&D takes money. On top of that today's graphics cards are amazingly more powerful than years past. Hell, a RTX 2060 is more powerful than a 1070ti...for almost the same price! Doesn't sound too bad to me.I think @cliffordcooley meant you people, (for the extra sensitive read, "gaming community") are also the ones who do the most whining, whimpering, complaining, along with shamelessly begging for better hardware, and then b!tch!ng ad naseum about the price when it's offered.
I get it though, you clowns < (read, "virtuosos" if you're sensitive), are the male versions of a "Diva", virtual gaming "superstars" who require that all eyes be on them, and all their needs be met instantly, if not sooner..
Could you at least try to be somewhat coherent when you post? Maybe dare to try something involving full sentences. What if im still holding on win 95 s3d virge 4 mb 385 series 128 mb ram vram gpu mem p 60. still running win 98 se with dx 9 support.
