PC not seeing all the RAM

  1. Hi,
I've been given 2 512mb sticks of identical pc2700 ram which I thought I would use to upgrade the kids pc.

The problem... The bios will recognize either stick correctly in any of the 3 memory slots & the pc will run quite happily but when I install both sticks the bios will still only see 512mb.

I've tried clearing the cmos, I've run memtest on both sticks with no errors.

    I'm now stuck :)

    Any ideas??

    Athlon 2600
    Epox 8k9a mobo
    2 sticks 512mb Twinmos ddr

    Thanks in advance.

Strange, according to the database at www.crucial,com your mobo should support 1 gig of ram no problem, but it does say that pc3200 is the lowest speed supported!!!!!
