PewDiePie publishes response to anti-Semitic claims

YouTube user Felix Arvid Ulf Kjellberg, better known by his online personal PewDiePie, has published a video response to both Disney and YouTube parting ways with him over anti-Semitic content in some of his videos.

In the clip, Kjellberg said he is sorry for the words he used as he knows they offended people and the joke itself went too far. Kjellberg reiterated that his intention with the most recent controversial video was to show how stupid it is that you can pay someone five bucks to do almost anything.

Kjellberg adds that he does strongly believe that you can joke about anything but there’s also a right way and a “not the best way” to go about it. He loves to push boundaries, he said, but considers himself a rookie comedian and has definitely made mistakes like this before. Like other times, this will be a growing and learning experience, he said.

PewDiePie wasn’t in full-on apology mode, however, as he took aim squarely at the media with claims that they simply don't like him and only focus on how much money he makes from his content. Old school media, he said, doesn’t like Internet personalities because they have so much influence and such a large voice.

In the end, Kjellberg thanked everyone that has supported him and promises that he’s “still here” and “still making videos.”

This whole thing is pretty stupid. I mean, he makes millions of dollars and donates it to charity and the news media don't really say anything about that. He makes a satire and everyone jumps him. Too serious for PewPewDie? Or too stupid to understand the underlying message of the satire? Hell, maybe both. More ironic is him rubbing Disney the wrong way with the satire when the founder of Disney was known to be anti-semitic.

And this is coming from someone who considers himself a centrist to a leftist who is also not a fan of his channel. I enjoy watching Markiplier, Jacksepticeye, and HarshlyCritical more.

I honestly think that Don Rickles was the only person that could pull it off without being branded a bigot, but that was mainly because he didn't single out one group .... he want after them all and was able to do so in a semi-tasteful and completely gut busting fashion that would make anyone laugh. When her performed, nobody and I mean NOBODY was safe and rarely was there a dry eye in the house.

This kind of comedy is rare and exceeding difficult to pull off. Many a seasoned comedian has tried, but only Don was able to be successful on a continuous basis.

Well the "little guys" seem to be doing ok regarding there persecution of the Palestinians of all religious denominations. I would call that rather cowardly.

This is a non-argument that can be said of anything humans are a part of. Secularism, in fact, has caused the pain, suffering, and genocide of countless people over the millennium.

Replace 'secularism' with 'socialism,' 'communism,' 'capitalism,' 'atheism,' 'money,' etc. and it still works rhetorically without actually saying anything.

Insofar as this all relates to making Nazi/Jew jokes...this particular proclivity to punish any unlicensed practitioner of criticism or satire is a uniquely Jewish thing. Every demographic complains about being the butt of a joke, but failing to treat Jews as the Holy People is the only one that carries with it economic and social sanctions. Jews aren't the only people who have been holocosted. They are, however, the only ones who get to act like it.
